CULTURAL DAY - MSCIA UB

20th August 2022

After two years of online exchanges, MSCIA UB has once again held Cultural Day as an offline event. Cultural Day is one of MSCIA's projects to celebrate the visit of incoming students, where we focus on exchanging cultures between local students and incoming students. This project consisted of two events, these being Cultural Day and Cultural Night. The purpose of this project was to create a particular day where we can freely exchange each other's culture in an exciting manner. During Cultural Day, we spent our time in Museum Panji to learn one of Indonesia's ancient epics Then, incoming students continued their day with a visit to Antique Batik where our incoming friends learned to create their very own batik and bring their creation home with them. Lastly, the day ended with the bread and butter of the event, Cultural Night. All participants, both local students and incoming students, cooked native dishes for all of us to enjoy,

and even learned different dances from different countries, such as from Hungary and Poland. Overall, all participants extremely enjoyed the event, and wished that such a similar event will be held next year. Through this event, we hope that cultural understanding between local students and incoming students grow and we all learn to appreciate the values contained within each other's cultures.

PROJECT HUNTING - CIMSA UGM

18th August 2022

Project Hunting is one of the essential activities of what makes SCORE unique amongst other standing committees – as without project hunting, NMOs would not be able to host incomings and or send outgoings for research exchanges. Regardless of that importance, project hunting also does not come easy in its application and implementation. With that, SCORE CIMSA UGM present ProHunt 101 – Training on Project Hunting, which aims to introduce basics, essentials and procedures of Project Hunting to members of 2021. This training was held on 18th August 2022 through Zoom Meetings, starting with brief ice breaking session from LORE CIMSA UGM and introduction of PC SCORE CIMSA - Aliifah Hanantika, as trainer for the day. Pre-test is then given and the training begins! Kak Alka explains extensively on the importance and flow of ProHunt as well as giving tons of tips and tricks to achieve a successful ProHunt – in either online or offline setting. Kak Alka also gave us the opportunity to see an actual Project Form and elaborate on how it should be filled properly. This training ends with a QnA session, followed by post-test, evaluation form as well as documentation session. Through this training, we gain so much new knowledge on Project Hunting and is very enthusiastic in implementing them in CIMSA UGM to bring more projects to IFMSA Research Exchange!!

Re-introduction of LANTERN’s timeline and concept are also conducted followed by formation of small research groups of 3-4 students. Lastly, awarding on the Best Participant is given and documentation is done. Through this intervention, we hope that students obtain new knowledge on making a research proposal and can implement them in the upcoming Day-2 of this second intervention in 16th September 2022!

GAP EXCHANGE - CIMSA UNAIR

1 - 26th August 2022

On the 1st August 2022, SCORE CIMSA UNAIR was able to host the 2nd batch of research exchange program in collaboration with SCOPH CIMSA UNAIR with the help of Parasitology Department to conduct a Global Action Program (GAP) Exchange. There are 4 incomings, namely Daniela from Czech, Ahmed from Egypt, Claudia from Italy, and Elyes from Tunisia for Dr. Sukmawati Basuki, dr., M.Sc research project, “Profile of Aedes sp. and Knockdown Resistance (kdr) Gene using Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms (PCR-RFLP) and DNA sequencing methods in Institute of Tropical Disease (ITD)”. Before our program begins, we already conduct a call meeting with our incomings around 4 days before they depart from their country where we discuss our local ground rules and several thing related to their arrival, such as who's going to pick them up, where is the lodging, what should they do when they arrive, etc. Our main program is split into 4 weeks. The first week was used to pick up our incoming student’s from the airport, welcoming party with the deans, upon arrival training and schedule information, tour around campus A (The Faculty of Medicine) and ITD, introduction lectures, and of course field work training. In the second week, we focused on field work and we started by making several mosquito traps. After that, we split into 2 groups consisting of 2 incomings 1 SCORE member and 1 SCOPH member because we have to go back and forth every 7 am and 7 pm, to take the mosquito samples from the trap in two different locations and then we freeze the sample.

GAP EXCHANGE - CIMSA UNAIR (Contd.)

1 - 26th August 2022

By the end of the second week, we are able to analyze several mosquitoes samples and divide them into different categories according to their genus and gender. Then, the first two days of the third week were used to take a PCR-RFLP sample from the mosquitos, followed by a day off on 17th of August where the incomings also participated in celebrating Indonesia's independence day by joining various competitions at UNAIR, such as tug of war and sack races. The last two days of the third week were focused on the Main Social Program where we visited Balai Besar Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan Dan Pengendalian Penyakit (BBTKLPP) by Minister of Health in Surabaya and Pasuruan followed by a road trip to Bromo and paragliding in Batu, Malang. In Malang, we also greeted and welcomed to stay over at one of SCORE CIMSA UNAIR Alumni’s house, the infamous SCORE Director, Kevin Alvarro. Finally, the fourth week was used to finalize the scientific report and presentation. The exchange ended with a Farewell Party where we had dinner together with the tutor and everyone who ever had been involved with the incomings activities. Also some of our incomings bought our local committee several gifts, one of them includes mini cakes from their country. Also in our spare time, we also conducted (or more like spontaneous) several Mini Social Programs, such as traveling around the city of Surabaya, trying various Surabaya culinary delights, went to the Ijen crater, Madura, and also Yogyakarta. Because of many things that I as a LORE, LPO, and person in charge (PIC) go through together everyday with the incomings. We felt a strong bond with them and were very sad when we had to let them go. Especially because they also live in the same boarding house as me and several PICs, we feel lost when the boarding hall that was once crowded becomes deserted. Of course, this activity cannot be separated from obstacles, but the experience we get is very valuable and I hope that the evaluations that we get in this activity can be used to provide even better incoming hosting from our local committee.

HOSTING INCOMINGS - CIMSA UI

1 - 24th August 2022

After 2 long years of putting our exchange program on a hold, SCORE Indonesia has finally been able to continue our research exchange program and SCORE CIMSA UI aims to take part in this. In August 2022, SCORE CIMSA UI held hosting for the first time again since the pandemic for 4 incoming students from 3 different nations. These four students are Ariana from Romania, Imane from Morocco, Kinga from Poland, and Asia from Poland as well. This research exchange program was held for a month from the 1st until the 24th of August in Salemba Campus and the IMERI building. This month's hosting was held in collaboration with FKUI-RSCM Department of Medical Pharmacy. Our program is split into 4 weeks. The first week was used to pick up our incoming student’s from the airport, introduction lectures, welcoming party, and for upon arrival training. Then the second and third weeks were used to study the herbal toxicity level of the research plant, learn how to handle the laboratory mice, and celebrate Indonesia's independence day. And then the fourth week was used to operate on the laboratory mice, to form the results report, and to visit the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). And on the last day, we held a farewell party and a national food and drink party where we prepared tumpeng rice as well to celebrate the end of this program with the students, tutor, university deans, and the staff of the FKUI-RSCM Department of Medical Pharmacy. We have learned so much through these four weeks program as it was also our first hosting experience in 2 years, whether it’s from managing the incoming, communicating with both the tutor and incomings, or preparing the hosting in general. We hope that this first hosting will kickstart another amazing hosting in our local and we hope our incomings have a pleasant and remarkable experiences here. We also hope all those memories always stay in their hearts and minds.
