Modern Country Homes
Rural location, contemporary comfort
The allure of rural relocation
More and more of our clients are looking to make a tree change and coming to us to help them build their dream homes in rural or regional locations.
The post-Covid work-from-home boom has meant that working professionals in urban areas have more options and more freedom to choose the perfect location to live and build a new home. The benefits offered by a country lifestyle are foremost in their minds when our clients look to move away from metro areas.
Compared to small, urban homes, a move to the country allows you to get more space and land for your budget. Have you been priced out of metro suburbs or are looking for a different way of life? Make your dream a reality with a new larger home in a rural setting with more room than you could expect in the city!
Not only can you take advantage of larger blocks and properties with more spacious homes both inside and out, you can also take in the added benefits of country living – a more relaxed way of life focusing on the things that matter to you.
Whether it’s the joy of spending more time outdoors in nature, being part of a new, tight-knit local community, or being able to start a family. Give your children a childhood full of outdoor activities and time spent playing in the backyard, making the move to rural living is very appealing.

A home to suit your new lifestyle
Building a new home in a rural or regional location means more space, giving you more options when it comes to selecting your floor plan. The larger block size and country setting means you can create your ideal home to fit perfectly into your property, and take advantage of your location, views and land.
Fireplaces
Adding an indoor fireplace to your new home will elevate both its style and comfort! Imagine the cozy glow of a fire, the perfect spot to gather with loved ones on chilly evenings, making every moment feel special. In a country setting, a fireplace not only complements the natural landscape but also offers energy-efficient warmth and a sense of timeless character.

Dedicated office and study spaces
The move to regional areas can often mean a certain amount of working from home. We can help to create the perfect work-from-home space in your new Swanbuild home. A large number of our floor plans include a dedicated study nooks or separate offices, giving you the work/home balance you need.
Indoor-Outdoor living
Larger blocks and often picturesque rural property settings mean indoor-outdoor living can be a primary focus of your new home. Our home designs feature optional decks and wide, deep verandahs allowing you to enjoy the outside of your home as much as the inside. Our decks and alfresco areas are often situated under the main roofline meaning you can enjoy the undercover area all year round. The option for multiple decks also means you can chase the sun and have the perfect spot to enjoy the rays any time of day or year.

Modern style with a country touch: How to achieve the look
If you choose a Life Made or Sustainable Living Package, you’ll be able to select everything from kitchen cupboards, sinks, tapware and handles down to the flooring and paint colours throughout your home. Our contemporary home designs and styles give a new take on country living, so you can get all the modern features you expect in a brand-new home, while still enjoying a touch of country styling.
Old & new
Modern country living is all about mixing contemporary features with classic elements. Large, modern, open plan kitchens that still feature farmhouse classics like a butler’s pantry, farmhouse sink and brass fixtures and fittings exemplify the style. Provincial-style cupboards with black handles bring a chic contemporary look to a country-style kitchen.

Colours, fixtures and finishes
The most popular colours we’re seeing this season and beyond are the ever-popular variety of whites and creams for interiors. Recently sage and eucalypt green, reminiscent of the Aussie bush, have risen in popularity. For flooring options, Travertine style tiles are taking over, and spotted gum timber floors are maintaining their ever famous reign as the flooring of choice for any period of country-style home. Moving away from the uber-modern look of black tapware, we find that brass or brushed nickel fittings and tapware help to give your new home that modern country vibe.

Styling tips
If you’re looking to add touches of modern country to any home, we recommend adding rustic decor pieces like wicker light shades, timber furniture, woven fabric throws & area rugs and woven baskets. If you add a fireplace to your home, why not add a stone surround to complete that rustic look?
