As a board certified registered nurse with extensive clinical and leadership experience, Watkins is recognized in the industry of health and wellness. Receiving the Governor’s Citation award for her work in the healthcare field, being a best-selling author, and nursing leader all represent her dedication to women’s wellness. Delayna, most notably is the CEO and founder of the Women's Wellness Lounge™, an intimate space where she provides health advocacy and lifestyle change services to thousands of women locally and nationwide. She recently expanded this concept and launched a national TV Show and Podcast the Women’s Wellness Lounge Show which provides education and entertaining content for women. Delayna has also created the Sugarless Living Program™ which is a result driven program responsible for helping women and their families decrease their consumption of refined sugar and processed food, leading to weight loss and diabetes prevention. As a speaker, Delayna is authentic, electrifying and energetic. Her delivery shifts the audience into action and provides support for immediate lifestyle change. Born and raised in Los Angeles California, endured early childhood trauma. Growing up in poverty gave me the passion I have today, to help people. I was a teenage mom, and I've experienced my own share of heart break. Today I work as a nurse, and I am the founder of Her Place Of Refuge. A non profit organization helping low income women and children. I am also a wife and mother of five children.

My purpose is to help women realize their potential, and heal from their pain.

Most people never learned early on in life, how to control the emotions of feeling like everything is personal. most of the time people dish out to you what they are dishing out to everyone. If a person has not mature, and took their own journey on self love. How could they be of any good to you. Don't take it personal is a reminder to you that, this could make all the difference in your life.

“I always say and truly believe that age is nothing but a number. I won my first bodybuilding competition at the age of 71, after having lived a sedentary life

The octogenarian Baltimorean was born on June 16th, 1936. She didn’t start exercising until she was 56 years old but since then she’s gone on to win two female bodybuilding titles. From 2010 to 2011 Shepherd was even declared to be the oldest competitive bodybuilder in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records! So what’s this 80-year-old bodybuilder’s secret? Discipline, determination, and good old fashioned hard work! She wakes up at 3 am, she runs about 80 miles (130km) per week, and she lives off a calorie-controlled diet of boiled egg whites, chicken, vegetables, and plenty of water. However, the true secret to her success is simple: she never gives up. So remember that next time you’re procrastinating about going to the gym.

Delayna your accolades speak for itself with promoting a healthier lifestyle change thru mind body and soul…How did this begin for you?

Describe Wellness ; because if I’m correct it can have many meanings.

The “idea” to educate, motivate and inspire women to embrace healthy lifestyles began as a passion project while I was working as a home health nurse. I began to take notice of the health disparities women experienced because they lacked the knowledge, resources or felt they didn’t have a voice about their health care.

So, I created the Women’s Wellness Lounge in 2011 as a safe place for women to come learn about the importance of healthy living and creating habits that would support a better quality of life.

During these monthly meetings most women were relieved to know they weren’t alone, and it was reassuring for me that this was definitely filling a need in the community and impacting households.

Wellness is a personal evolution that is experienced in every area of your life. It is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you're thriving. So, it looks and feels different for each individual.

In my description, there’s no specific measurement or criteria for obtaining personal wellness. It requires you to be very clear about what you want to experience or achieve in those areas when delving into a wholistic view of your life.

The word ‘wellness’ has become too commercialized and that tends to either make it less relevant because it’s used so much or more confusing due to the changing context.

As an Advocate for Women Wellness what is the main concern for Women and your overall audience??

That’s a really great question and to identify a main concern isn’t simple for me to do but here goes: My main concern for women is to experience healthy aging. Most women are experiencing ailments and chronic conditions that impact their quality of life. I believe it is imperative that we embrace a proactive approach to our health and wellbeing.

Most women take a reactive or situational approach to their health which creates a negative emotion about what is happening with their body. We must be more loving to ourselves and learn to age gracefully without regret. This is the beginning of creating a healthy legacy. I want women to live healthy and vibrant lives at every stage of life!

Your Sugarless Living Program has caught the attention of many in the Health Industry.

How does this work, and what are the steps in achieving?

Sugar is the single most deadly ingredient we consume daily! I refer to its consumption as a slow poison to our body. I developed the highly successful 45-day Sugarless Living Program to address this problem and it systematically assists with decreasing your toxic sugar consumption.

The program uses a three-prong approach of identify (relationship with sugar), intake (sugar sources), eliminate (remove toxic sugar).

The availability of sugar and artificial sweeteners in processed foods has increased dramatically in the last decade and this shift has contributed to chronic complications associated with obesity. The program helps you to identify the hidden sugar sources and teaches you to make healthier swaps which is proven to impact weight loss and prevent complications associated with the onset of diabetes.

Tiera Fletcher graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering in June 2017.

Why engineering and what inspired you?

Since the age of eleven, I have been interested in designing, building and understanding how things work. Upon joining a program in elementary school that taught students about the fundamentals of aerospace engineering, I combined all of my interests into designing military aircraft as an aerospace engineer.

Your bio is very impressive, is it your mission to help establish better access to STEM programs for our youth?

In 2017, my husband and fellow aerospace engineer, Myron Fletcher, and myself founded an outreach organization called Rocket With The Fletchers. Our mission is to motivate and inspire students to achieve their dream and we achieve this goal by providing the youth with access to knowledge and resources via speaking, mentorship and teaching. Our hope is that through our efforts, the youth have a better understanding of the opportunities that are available in the STEM field and the knowledge of how to achieve their dreams and goals.

How would you influence especially our young girls/women who are not sure about how to begin in this field?

Research and mentorship are two avenues to start the journey to achieving your goals. In March 2021, I released a book called Wonder Women of Science, alongside my co-author Ginger Rue, to serve as an in-depth source of research for youth to learn more about STEM careers. Wonder Women of Science features twelve amazing female scientists who are doing groundbreaking work in their respective fields, from creating spacesuits to combating nuclear weapons. Young readers gain exposure to various career fields that are not widely discussed and women who are doing this amazing work today.

Aisha Taylor Issah, Founder & CEO of the Sistahs in Business Expo, is a successful entrepreneur, ordained minister, and college professor. Over the years, she and her work have been featured in numerous publications and media outlets including Black Enterprise, Sheen Magazine, NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX. In 2005, she co-founded TAYLORmade ~ Professional Career Consulting with her sister, a full-service career consulting and recruiting firm.
