SA/NT Division Brett McGowran - SA/NT State President The first half of 2021 for SA/NT region has been very rewarding for myself as the State’s President and for all our new members. We really pushed hard to identify new members early in the year, that would allow us to reestablish the organisation and bring the skills needed to form a great committee. Here we are six months on, and we are filling rooms at our events. We have a membership base covering broad industry groups, academic institutions and students, that continues to grow. Why are people joining? Because we are connecting people in new ways and providing insights and opportunities to our members, that they would otherwise not be able to access.
MARCH Event We visited Schneider Electric’s manufacturing and distribution centre, where we heard about their Supply Chain journey across the last eight years. A journey that has propelled them to be recognised as the most sustainable company on earth (as rated by both Corporate Knights and most recently by the Global Sustainable Supply Chain Summit). They are also ranked #4 Globally by Gartner as the one of the best Supply Chain organisations on earth. For those that missed it, in a nutshell this organisation’s journey has involved: • 2005 – 2008 focus on Lean Manufacturing through “SPS” Schneider Production Systems. • 2009 – 2011 continued Lean and Six Sigma initiatives with a focus on Simplification • 2012 – 2014 launched Tailored Supply Chain initiative, aligning supply chains to customer buying behaviours • 2015 – 2017 extended the Tailored Supply Chain journey with a focus on digitisation • 2018 – 2020 moved to adopt rapid and widespread focus on Industry 4.0, Sustainability and Connectivity
