Well, what a busy time it has been since our last Newsletter!
SCLAA has held a combination of 17 events and webinars around the country, the largest being the synchronisation of events on International Womens Day 8th March.
This event attracted 427 attendees nationally with keynote Industry Leaders sharing the challenges and solutions to attracting, retaining and progressing talent as well as strategies for promoting Diversity in their respective companies.
We have also brought to fruition a Microcredential Course in partnership with ITLS. The Foundations of Intelligent Supply Chain Management will be delivered a number of times over the coming year.
This micro-credential is designed for managers and business owners who want to broaden their understanding of logistics and supply chain management, and acquire knowledge of the latest trends and technological developments in the field. The program is designed and delivered by supply chain experts aiming to familiarise forward-thinking leaders with the tools, technologies and approaches that are essential to design, plan, manage, and optimise the complex supply chains of today.
Particular emphasis is placed on real-world challenges of managing complex supply chains, and industry best practice in the use of advanced analytics and AIempowered tools to transform procurement, logistics, production, warehousing, and distribution operations. The program provides an interactive and engaging space in which participants will apply what they learn by role-playing scenarios, evaluating alternative decisions, and examining the business outcomes of those decisions. The program provides a unique networking opportunity through exchanging ideas with team members while developing competencies in intelligent supply chain management.
In the four modules of this micro-credential, the participants will become familiarised with:
1. Foundations of logistics and suppl chain design, planning, management and optimisation;
2. Emerging tools and technologies, and their applications in forecasting, procurement/sourcing, warehousing, and transport management;
3. Supply chain transformation/digitisation and integrated decision making; and
4. Transformational risk assessment/mitigation and sustainability initiatives
I am pleased to report that the initial intake was a resounding success and oversubscribed! The numbers are limited and enrolment will be via Expressions of Interest. SCLAA Professional and Executive level Members will be given priority consideration. The second offering will commence in November 2023 if you missed out this time.
We are also in full Conference mode as we copartner with Supply Chain Week Conference www. supplychainweek.com.au/ being held 14-15th June as well as CeMat 25th-27th July . www.cemat.com.au/
During the CeMat Conference, SCLAA will be hosting bespoke events.
The final day of Conference will see SCLAA present a Careers Forum, bringing together Industry Professionals, Training and Education Providers and Special Guest Speakers to help with practical ideas on fast tracking your career development.
This event is a must-attend for anyone seeking a career step change or wanting to proactively prepare for future opportunities. Gain valuable insights and knowledge on what actions you should take now to reach your desired destination. Sharpen your skills to secure a higherlevel role or stand out in your next industry interview, increasing your chances of landing the job you aspire to.
Some of the topics covered will be :
• Personal Branding-how to showcase yourself
Professional speaking -how to speak with confidence and authority
Why SCL is the hottest career right now
SCLAA NSW Committee will be present at Stand C11 and, just for fun, will have a Professional headshot photographer available for anyone attending that would like to take advantage of this! We look forward to seeing you there..
We have also wrapped our 2022 Mentoring Programme and launched 2023 Registrations, with continuing growth and interest in this important initiative for our members and industry professionals alike.
The ASCLA awards Committee, chaired this year by our NSW State Director, Cathy Anne Jones, has been busy canvassing Sydney venues and secured the prestigious Fullerton Grand Ballroom for our Gala Dinner to be held 10th November. Nominations opened during April, and ticket sales will launch soon.

If last year is anything to go by, I would urge ticket purchases at the earliest, or secure Sponsorship for guaranteed entry and the extensive marketing and membership benefits that are on offer! See further details in this newsletter.
During April, the SCLAA Board also met to discuss overall strategic objectives for the next few years. We once again canvassed members for feedback via an online survey on what they like, dislike and want more of, from their Membership, to guide our strategic goals. Some common themes emerged, amongst other initiatives, the Board will pursue and incorporate into its overall medium term strategic plan:
• A forum/platform facilitating member to member connections or member directory
• A jobs board/employment portal catering to industry
• Bespoke events for particular member groups and industry sectors
• Collaboration/forge partnerships with education institutions to provide SCL Certification
• SCL Student specific initiatives
Microcredential courses in partnership with Tafes, Universities (already initiated!)
• More National/cross state border networking opportunities
More information on the member survey will be provided in coming newsletters! Should any member or partner that hasn’t done so already, wish to provide input, it would be most welcome and can be forwarded to secretary@sclaa.com.au
The Board also took the opportunity to participate in a Directors Governance workshop for a part of the Strategy session in order to further strengthen its own learning ensure the highest levels of Code of Conduct and Corporate responsibility continue to be met for the SCLAA! I would like to thank the Facilitator, Julie Garland McLellan www.mclellan.com.au who, I am happy to say, was very pleased with the high level of governance and protocols exercised by the SCLAA Board! Onwards towards EOFY and I hope to meet many of you at our upcoming events and conferences ...
