An interesting fact regards the liquid phase around the crystal – even after weeks it did not evaporate, but remained rmly attached to the solid phase. Could be related to the hygroscopic attraction of the super‐saturated saline solution – supply from ambient humidity?
Maybe the nucleization core was able to generate the crystal, but stopped at some time as the lattice‐energy was no longer su cient to fuel the growth of the crystal, a kind of homeostatic equilibrium?
