SCIENCE FOR ALL

The Sciencenter is committed to creating a welcoming environment that embraces our diverse visitors. We believe science should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background. Through several access programs, we reduce barriers so that everyone can experience the joy of the Sciencenter.

We create lifelong learners and inspire a passion for science.

MEMBERSHIP ACCESS PROGRAM

Our Membership Access Program (MAP) provides families receiving public assistance with a free Sciencenter membership. With a MAP membership, families can visit as often as they like. Since launching in 2009, thousands of families have explored the Sciencenter for free.

COMMUNITY PARTNER PASS

We believe that partnerships with community organizations are essential to reaching those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with science in a hands-on, interactive way. Our Community Partner Pass extends our reach by offering free admission through partnerships with key community-based organizations.

This summer, we connected with Youth Group Leader, Meek Adams, at Southside Community Center’s Juneteenth Celebration. Since then, over 50 children, along with their Youth Leaders have visited the Sciencenter for free.

“The Sciencenter has been an amazing and safe space for our kids to explore and learn outside of Southside!”

This is just one example of how our access programs connect our community to science.

LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP

The Sciencenter also partners with local and regional libraries to broaden science accessibility. We provide memberships to participating libraries that patrons can “check out” to visit the Sciencenter for free. Over 40 libraries across the Southern Tier and Central New York regions, participate. This initiative helps make science exploration a communitywide experience.

Sciencenter Honored with Empire Award

On August 6th, Senator Lea Webb presented the New York State Senate’s Empire Award to the Sciencenter. This prestigious honor is the highest recognition given by the State Senate to businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to their communities.

The Sciencenter’s commitment to education, accessibility, and community engagement exemplifies the spirit of the Empire Award. Senator Webb’s recognition underscores the museum’s role in inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, board, volunteers, and supporters who are passionate about making science accessible to everyone in our community. It reinforces our commitment to inspire a love for science and learning in people of all ages.
