Columbia Study
First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. As 2018 begins, I want to reflect on all that has occurred since my last newsletter. These stories are exceptional, but they wouldn’t be

Columbia University Completes a Study at the High School The North Bergen school district received another “feather in its cap” when doctoral students from Columbia requested to complete a study at the High School. As you may know, last year a study was completed at Horace Mann and the researchers were so impressed with our administration, faculty, and students that they welcomed the opportunity to work with us. This study took place in the physics and advanced chemistry classes for five days. The researcher wanted to determine if a tactile approach with a project based learning curriculum would increase a student’s understanding about center of mass. The study went well and it exposed our students to graduate level work while still in high school. The researcher requested to return with the results of her study and present them to the classes which will only add to the value of this exceptional experience.
