Why did I choose this topic?

I choose this topic because I felt like brachiosaurus was the biggest dinosaur and it does not eat meat. It eats plants. What I also like about the brachiosaurus is that the if brachiosaurus was still alive it would not eat us because the brachiosaurus eats plants and we are meat. That is why I chose this topic.

What environment was the brachiosaurus living in?

Brachiosaurus had a tiny head and a very long neck. Its long neck would have helped it reach tall plants to eat. It had a wide mouth and thick jaws with teeth shaped like little shovels. The shape of its teeth helped it tear leaves from plants. It had an extremely heavy body. It could be 50,000kilograms (110,00 pounds)! Scientists think this dinosaur stayed in flat land areas. It was probably too heavy to climb up hills. Brachiosaurus was extinct about 145 million years ago.

I wonder what kind of plants it ate because the brachiosaurus have sharp teeth. I am glad that they don’t exist because some dinosaurs eat meat and we have meat in our body. That’s why I’m glad that dinosaurs are extinct. I think the brachiosaurus eggs looks big and small so that might mean that they would be big or small. They might be wide or skinny some brachiosaurus eat meat. Brachiosaurus is so special to me because it has the biggest bones when it has sediment on it.

obsidian rock and how is it formed?

What is an

Obsidian is a volcanic rock made of lava (hot, liquid) rock. Obsidian is a shiny black color and is considered a type of glass. When a volcano erupts the lava comes out from inside earth and can flow out above the tip of the volcano. When this happens, it looks like a pile that lava cools and hardens very quickly before it has had a chance to spread very far. The hardened lava is obsidian. You can use obsidian for diamond bracelets and other things. Like glass, obsidian is a shiny rock. Obsidian rocks is fun to learn about and it is an interesting rock because a obsidian rock came from a volcano.

QUESTION

HR

How does Obsidian form?

So today we will be talking about how obsidian forms itself. The reason I said forms itself is because obsidian, no one needs to form the obsidian, it can form it self and as a matter of fact obsidian, has an unusual appearance. I know it teaches everyone to be able to know there was an environment, that had volcano, but I wonder if any one ever says, “Wow I just found the something that came from the volcano. It is obsidian, which is really rare.” Now if I found obsidian, I would definitely take a picture or if I could, I would take a sample of the obsidian. If you’ve ever seen obsidian, than you’re very lucky. It must have been there for a long time because it has to be cooled down. If it’s not all the way cooled down then there is a slight chance that you will hurt yourself, not even slight chance, there's a very BIG chance that you will hurt yourself. Now comes what you’ve all been waiting for! This is how obsidian forms step by step, but first here are some facts.

DID YOU KNOW Obsidian is natural glass that was formed by molten lava or as some people call it, magma from a volcano. While the magma cools, it cools with minimal crystal growth. Obsidian is usually found within margins of rhyolitic lava flows, also known as obsidian flows. LIGHTNING ROUND Obsidian is a igneous rock. Obsidian is also known as amorphous material aka “mineraloid”. Obsidian has a smooth uniform texture that breaks with conchoidal fractures (fractures that look like seashells). You can get obsidian by a diamond pickaxe and a bucket of water as long as you find a lava pool. But the lava can’t be flowing. It takes about 9.375 seconds to mine. Obsidian is used for knives, arrowheads, spear points, and even more. On the material hardness scale obsidian, is a 5 to a 5.5 on the scale of hardness.

Bed rock is real and also can be found in the middle of the earth. On that note, that’s all I have for my facts now, but let me sum it up for you, Obsidian is produced when felsic lava extruded from a volcano and cools rapidly with the minimal crystal growth it has.

How does Obsidian form? So what we are going to be talking about today is how obsidian forms over time, but I put in some interesting facts about obsidian. So if you are interested in some facts about obsidian, then you would love to read about this. I will put in some small talk about obsidian and you will have some interesting facts about obsidian.

Question What are lakes?

Lakes are areas that are filled with lots of land and water and can be connected to rivers as well. The sediments that build up in a lake are clay, gravel, calcium carbonate, sand, and siltstone. Some examples of these sediments are clay that are carried by water, but slow moving water. Also, mudstone is formed in a environment that includes lakes as well. Gravel is also in a river channel which means its makes a path of the river, calcium carbonate is built in a shallow ocean as well as a lake. Sand is built up also in a beach and water meets the land and its forms there by the beaches because its by lakes. A silt is an area that is a river delta which means it enters into a lake. Lakes are not exactly the same as other bodies of water. But, it can be similar because they all have various types of sediment that are forming inside them. For example, silt can be built up in a lake but also enters into rivers. I never knew that various bodies of water were connected. I realized that the water from many of these bodies of water flow into each other. I also learned that as long as it rains, lakes will never run out.

Where do mosasaurus lives?

Mosasaurus animals live in the water. One of the largest

mosasaurus fossils was 18 meters 59 feet long. That’s the length of 10 adults! It had short limbs with paddle-shaped bones at the end. It had a huge strong tail. The tail and paddles would have been good for swimming. It had large jaws for caching fish and paddles for swimming in water. It uses it to eat turtles and other animals with shells. They have long necks to swim very very fast and to catch their prey.

They lay their babies in water. They are also gray and never go out of the water because they can’t breath on the land. They use to be the largest fish when man didn’t walk this Earth. I’m glad they are not alive today because they will be in the water and we wouldn’t be able to go to the beach because they will eat us if we are in the water.

HR

LA Tech / Pace / Howard

What type of fossil is a calimite plant fossil?

A calamite fossil is a plant that doesn’t grow seeds. The trunks were hollow and the leaves were long and thin. They grew in tight groups of twenty-five. Plants that look similar to a calamite plant can be found today, though they are much smaller. They are known as horsetails because of their shape. Scientist think that horsetails are related to extinct calamite plants. Calamites could grow as tall as trees-about thirty meters (one hundred feet) tall. A calamite fossil is different from a Glossopteris because a Glossopteris looks like leaves from a flower and are large like a hand. fossils have been found on their own and the leaves died and grow new leaves. Glossopteris have a line down the middle called a vein. Only little pieces of the leaves were found as fossils and scientist are not sure what the whole plant really looked like. They think it was a small tree.

build up?

do sediment

Shallow Ocean : Shale

Beach : Sandstone

When organisms die, their bodies can get covered in sediment. This can happen in different environments. Sometimes, parts of their bodies turn into fossils over time.To learn more about fossils, it’s important to learn about the environments where sediment builds up. One example of an environment where sediment builds up is mudstone. Mudstone builds up in deep ocean environments. When mudstone builds up, it makes clay piles in floodplains. Another environment is shallow ocean, which creates shale. Shale forms in shallow ocean when clay carried by slow-moving water. Another example of where sediment forms is in a beach environment where sandstone is created. Also, some environments have siltstone in them and two specific environments are floodplain and river deltas. Siltstone is made when silt is carried by slow moving water and over time the silt turns into siltstone. Also there is limestone also known as fossiliferous limestone which is made in shallow lakes or parts of the oceans which is made up of a sediment called calcium carbonate Over time that calcium carbonate turns into fossiliferous limestone. In this paragraph I will be talking about the sedimentary rock that no one ever has any interest in any more. This sedimentary rock is called the Conglomerate sedimentary rock. This rock is found in a area with fast moving water. This rock is made of pebbles, large rocks and sometimes sand. Conglomerate can be many different colors including gray, black, white, and tan. Also this rock is unusually found with a fossil in it, and the way this is formed when sediment piles up on the river channels. Over time the sedimentary turns into conglomerate sedimentary rock but this can only be found in a fast moving water environment. Finally, if you did not know conglomerate is the combination of two or more rocks from different kinds of stone.

How are Sedimentary rocks and Fossils Formed?

A sedimentary rock forms when the environments change over time to make more layers on the rock like mudstone siltstone and limestone. Fossils form when an organism dies and is covered with sediment that turns into rock. After over 10,000 years it turns into a fossil. A sedimentary rock layers forms when sediment sink and builds up in water compacts under more sediment and cements over time. Different sedimentary rock layers in a place mean that the environment in that place changed over time. Fossils tell stories about organisms that lived a long time ago. Fossils help geologists answer questions like what did they ancient organisms eat and how did they move around too. Agaricrinus was a type of animal that lived in the ocean and went extinct about 345 million years ago. Dalmanites was a type of organism from a group called the trilobites that lived in the ocean. But it went extinct about 390 million years ago. Also, a Neuropteris went extinct 145 million years ago. These are all interesting examples of fossils.

volcanoes form?

Volcanoes form by hot liquid and basalt that is black or dark gray. When a volcano erupts, lava comes out from inside earth. The lava can spread across land. That lava hardens very quickly. The hardened lava is basalt. If the volcano erupts on land, the basalt can look smooth. If the volcano erupts on the ocean floor, the basalt can look like pillows. When a volcano erupts, the lava can flow out above the tip of the volcano. When it does this, it looks like a pile of toothpaste coming out of its tube. That lava cools and hardens very quickly, before it has had a chance to spread very far. The hardened lava forms something called obsidian.

What can I learn from an arcrica?

Arctica shells were usually just a few inches long and their shells were covered with lines that formed an arch shape. Parts of their shells were mirror images. The parts connected with hinge. This allowed the organism to open and close its shells. The picture is showing the sea animal just sitting there with the shells that are different sizes, shapes and different colors. For example, there is one shell that is super tiny and this arctica lives in a wet and beachy environment? I also learned that this creature has all kinds of colors and shapes. Two of its shells have little mirrors on its body and that it blend in with its environments. So whenever they are in danger they could just lay down on the ocean floor because to blend in with the sand. It has the mirrors on its body so when there is danger they could see it and hide. I never knew that there was a creature called the arctica but when I read this book about sea creatures I found this and wanted to learn more about this creature?`Â

dinosaurs go extinct?

How did volcanoes make

Not all scientists agree on this idea. But many scientists argued that volcanoes made the dinosaurs go extinct. They found evidence for their claim in a place called the Deccan Traps in india. The Deccan Traps are a huge area of volcano rock layer that formed at about the same time the dinosaurs went extinct. Scientists know that volcanic rock is created when lava from erupting volcanoes cools, so they inferred that many volcanic eruptions happened in this area for thousands of years. So much lava poured out of the volcanoes that it would have covered an area the size of california with lava a mile deep. I’m glad that the volcanoes made the dinosaurs become extinct because dinosaurs would kill all of us, so the people would be dead. By now, dinosaurs would rule the world. I think it would be OK if some were on Earth, but the ones that would eat us could not be able to stay.

What is shale made of?

Shale is made of sedimentary rock made mostly of clay, and tiny sediment. The sediment that makes up shale is too tiny to see something even with a microscope. When shale breaks, it splits into thin, flat pieces. Shale can be many different colors, including gray, white, brown, black, red and dark green. Fossils are very commonly found in shale. Shale is built up in water and it is formed in rocks. I know this because I learned from the book “Fossil Hunters” shale is made of sediment rocks and the clay that is carried by slow moving water. Clay piles up in floodplains, lakes and shallow parts of the ocean. Overtime, the clay can turn into shale in these environment.

What have scientists figured out from brachiosaurus fossils?

Brachiosaurus had a tiny head and a long neck. Its long neck would have helped it reach tall plants. It had a wide mouth and thick jaws with teeth shaped like little shovels. The shape of it tear leaves from plants.it had an extremely heavy body .it could be 50,000 kilograms [110,000 pounds]. Scientists think this dinosaur stayed in flat land areas. It was too heavy to climb up hills. I think the brachiosaurus is bigger than a house because how tall it is and it is taller than a tree. What I know about the brachiosaurus is that it has flat teeth so it probably eat plants. Brachiosaurus was a type of plant eating dinosaur. It went extinct about 145 million years ago. A brachiosaurus was the biggest dinosaur on earth it eats plants and it has a long neck so it can get the plant for the baby and for the mom brachiosaurus and a brachiosaurus can build a nest with their mouth so they can have somewhere to sleep and they keep their body at the nest so they can get food. A brachiosaurus washe biggest dinosaur on the earth and when there is something bad the dinosaur can hit it what the tale. Some things that the brachiosaurus do is travel to look for a home and get food on they and some water. Also, the brachiosaurus has a long neck so they can get the plants. How do fossils form?

How are fossils formed? First, they died to show their bones could tell us how their body moved and what environments it came from. Some environments were wet and some were dry. Wither the water or or the sun would affect how the fossil was formed. I’m glad this happen so humans could explore how they were made and formed. Organisms are most likely to leave behind fossils if they have hard body parts and if they get covered with sediment quickly after an organism is buried. Some plant and animal fossils that have been found around the world. Fossils important because fossils are made from the bones of organisms which forms when an organism dies and is buried.

Question

How does Basalt Rock Form?

When a volcano erupts, l ava comes out from inside Earth. The lava can

spread across the land. That lava cools and hardens to become basalt. If the volcano erupts on land the basalt can look smooth or like a bunch of ropes. If the volcanoes erupts on the ocean floor the basalt can look like pillows. The basalt is so so smooth and when it forms it is not hot at all. Basalt is a volcanic rock made of lava (hot, liquid rock). Basalt is black or dark gray. The basalt rock is very hot so there might not be any plants and animals were the basalt formed. They might have died because the volcano erupted and killed them. Basalt is found in most areas within Earth oceans. You might be wondering what a basalt rock looks like. Well I will tell you it is dark-colored and fine grained. Basalt forms when lava reaches the earth surface at a volcano or mid ocean. It has a composition similar to gabbro. The difference between basalt and gabbro is that basalt is a fine grained rock. Did you know that most of Earth’s surface is basalt, but makes up only a small fraction of the continents. Did you also know that basalt is an igneous rock and plate tectonics causes some areas of the crust to separate. Also, magma from the upper mantle is allowed to move to the surface and erupts as a volcano.

In what environment can siltstone form?

Siltstone is formed in the silt that makes up siltstone is carried by slow moving water. Silt most commonly builds up in floodplains. It can also build up in river deltas.Over time the silt turns into siltstone in these environments. Siltstone looks like a hard thick cake. Silt builds up and siltstone forms. A siltstone rock is different from mudstone. Mudstone is gray, white brown black red and dark green. But siltstone has many colors. You can’t even count them so the difference is siltstone has more colors. Did you know siltstone is made out of‌.well Silt!!! Did you also know that siltstone is an sedimentary rock. Siltstone is also one of my sediment favorite rocks.

Why are fossils important?

If you wanted to be an expert fossil hunter, where would you start? You can learn alot from looking at the fossil themselves. If you really want to understand fossils, you need to understand how fossils form and how rock forms around them. It also helps to know about the environment where different kinds of rocks form. You can make inferences about the fossils’ shape, their environments and how ancient organisms might have lived.

Why are fossil important? Fossils are important because fossils tell stories about organisms that lived a long time ago. Finding a fossil is exciting! Fossils help geologists answer question like: what did they move around? What environments did certain organisms live in? Answers to these questions help geologists infer what places were like millions of years ago.
