Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan Creative writing: Alter Ego’s- Students will explore the characterisation of Alter Ego’s in literature. Students will then produce their own short story. Creative writing: Gothic- Students will be analysing conventions of gothic fiction through the study of a range of famous extracts. Students will then produce their own gothic short story. Non-fiction writing: Activism- Students will be exploring the art of rhetoric through famous speeches that relate to past and present world issues. Students will focus on their speech writing skills. AQA Paper 1 reading: Students will read and practice their analytical and evaluative responses to a range of literature extracts in preparation for the exam. Eduqas Paper 2 reading: Students will read and practice their analytical, evaluative and comparative responses to two pieces of literary non-fiction from different centuries in preparation for the exam. The Victorians: This unit focuses on the study of knowledge, understanding, analysis and the context of three poems from the GCSE anthology from the Victorian era. An Inspector Calls: The unit will look at analysing key themes and characters in preparation for the exam. Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan Topics: Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Equivalence, Solving Problems including Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division and Fractions and Percentages of amount. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. Topics: Brackets, Equations and Inequalities, Sequences and Indices. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. Topics: Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, Angles and Ratio. Students will be extending their knowledge from KS3 and applying them to more complex problems. Foundation topics: Quadratic equations and Area, Perimeter, Volume and Surface Area. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. Higher topics: Quadratic equations, including using graphs, and Area, Perimeter, Volume and Surface Area. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. Foundation topics: Equations and Inequalities, Angles and Ratio and Basic Proportion in preparation for the exam. Higher topics: Similarity and Congruence, Laws of Indices, Algebraic Fractions and Trigonometry in preparation for the exam.
