Half Term 1 Curriculum Plan ‘A Perfect world’- Students will be exploring famous speeches relating to world issues with a focus on speech writing skills. Romeo and Juliet- A study of the characters, themes and conventions in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. Rhymes over time- Students study different forms of poetry from 1500’s to the modern day whilst developing their skills in analysis and comparison. The Romantics – This unit focuses on the study of knowledge, understanding, analysis and the context of five poems from the GCSE anthology from the Romantic era. Macbeth - The unit will look at analysing key themes and characters in preparation for the exam. Half Term 1 Curriculum Plan This half term will focus on exploring: Sequences, Algebraic Notation and Equality and Equivalence. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to show how patterns are formed in numbers and how we can find missing values using inverse operations. This half term will focus on exploring: Ratio and Scale, Multiplicative change and Multiplying and Dividing Fractions. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to develop a deeper understanding of ratio, conversion and currencies. This half term will focus on working with Number and Algebra. Students will be extending their knowledge from KS3 and applying them to more complex problems. Foundation: This half term will focus on: Equations and Inequalities and Angles. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to develop a deeper understanding of angles and will use inverse operations to find unknown variables. Higher: This half term will focus on: Pythagoras and Trigonometry and Proportion. Students will be using visual representations and physical resources to investigate patterns in proportion and the use of Pythagoras and Trigonometry in real life contexts. Foundation: This half term will focus on revising Number and Algebra skills in preparation for the exam. Higher: This half term will focus on revising Surds and Half Term 1 Curriculum Plan Cells and Organisms – This unit will focus on how the body is organised from cells to organ systems and how these interact and work together. Inheritance – The unit will focus on evolution and adaptation and the reasons for variation within a species Matter 2 – This unit will focus on different elements and how they react together. Cells – This unit will look at different cells how substances move around and how cells reproduce. Disease – This unit will look at microbes and disease and how the body defends itself and treatment we can use and how vaccines and drugs are developed. Inheritance –This unit will look at how we inherit our characteristics, some genetic disorders and the theories of evolution and classification.

Chemistry Year 9 Year 10

Atomic Structure and the periodic table – This unit will focus on the structure and history of the atom and the development of the periodic table. Atomic Structure 2- This unit will focus on elements and their relative atomic mass. It will also focus on how compounds can be displayed and how to work out the relative formula mass of its formula.
