Looking back on the Summer Term at The Birkenhead Park School.

Bronze Expedition Duke of Edinburgh English Workshop with local authors

Our students had to put all of their training into action when they went on their expedition to the Moel Famau foothills as part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. They made a few friends along the way too! The Expedition is one of four sections to the Award, all of which must be completed to gain the Award and move onto the next Silver level.

Local author and ex-teacher, Julie Lamin wrote her book after discovering the hidden past of Nicaragua in the 1970s. Our students had a workshop with Julie to explore writing hooks, opening sentences, character development and how a writer makes choices in a book to create enticing and engaging stories. Julie was a real inspiration to our students!

The Birkenhead Park School

Digital Media Workshop

Year 9 Students took part in a Digital Media Workshop, learning about film production from start to finish, including lots of special effects with green screen and prosthetics. It was great to see we have some budding future Wes Andersons or Lynette Howell Taylors in our school!

Costume Design

Our Year 8 students had a fantastic time creating costumes as part of their Drama course, using recycled newspaper.

‘See Me, Be Me’ workshop

As part of their “See me, Be me” campaign, The Anthony Walker Foundation visited us to have a conversation about hate crimes with our students. Anthony Walker was murdered in Liverpool in 2005, and the Foundation, started by his family, is building a positive legacy through education. Our students found it very thought-provoking, and learnt about the importance of combating hate crime and supporting anti-racism organisations.

BPS Staff vs Local Police Football Match

Our students got to witness one of the greatest football matches ever. The BPS team played against the Police to raise money for Tomorrows Women Wirral and what a match it was, with the final score being 9-7 with BPS winning!

BPS Sports Day

The sun was shining on our fantastic Sports Day held at the Oval Sports ground. Our students took part in a huge range of sports, from long jump, to shot putt and football. Everyone put in fantastic effort taking part, including the teachers who took part in the teachers race, won by Mr Lodge.

Year 11 Prom

The Year 11 Leaver prom took place at the Leasowe Castle, and what a spectacular event it was! Our students looked fantastic in their prom outfits, and it was a well deserved celebration after all the hard work they put into their GCSE exams.

GCSE Results Day

All of the hard work our Year 11 students put in over the last two years finally culminated in their GCSE exams in June. We wish them all the best of luck with their results and look forward to seeing them again to collect their results on Thursday 24th August, from 9-11am.

End of Year Celebration Awards

We’ve also celebrated the achievements of year groups 7-10 who’ve worked really hard over the past academic year. Students received special Subject Awards, as well as PART Value Awards as recognition for their hard work and achievements.
