EXTRACURRICULAR GUIDE

Clubs, careers, trips and much more!

Introduction

At the Birkenhead Park School, outside of the classroom we offer a wide and exciting range of opportunities for our students to have fun, learn new skills and meet new friends. We encourage all students to take part in our extracurricular programme, where there is something for every interest. Our programme is categorised into Sports, Academic and Clubs so that our provision covers everything linked to the curriculum. All our clubs are run by dedicated staff who are passionate about engaging students in their subjects and interests.

We have been fortunate to work with a variety of external providers who also deliver sessions to our students. Initiatives such as the Liverpool Football Foundation, She Inspires programme and Tranmere Rovers in the Community enable students to develop their resilience and character through sport. These students receive professional coaching, support and an opportunity to play outside of the school setting.

Additionally, through our partnership with HYPE Inclusion, we offer students who regularly attend extra-curricular sports club the opportunity to attend trips with Sale Sharks Rugby, Manchester City Football Club and Cheshire Phoenix Basketball. We pride ourselves on the contributions that our students make outside of the classroom where they have taken part in various competitions such as Dot Art, LCR Careers and F1 Go Kart designs.

In addition, we have a 5 year careers curriculum in place to ensure our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to be successful in the world of work. We work with University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores and many others to provide visits and workshops to broaden horizons. We also allow our students to develop their skills through CV workshops, mock interviews and experiences of the work place.

There is plenty to choose from at BPS, please look at our extracurricular timetable for more information.

Our School council meet every half term and discuss different things to improve our school environment. They are keen to get involved with Charity events and support our local community.

Become a school ambassador:

Our student ambassadors are voted in by our students, and are the voice of the students. They bring their ideas and opinions to each meeting and they make suggestions to school improvements, and whilst everything can’t be fulfilled, many are. They also lead on fundraising events such as our Comic Relief Cake Sale and the Elf Run for the NHS.
