Public Exams

•Your final examinations begin on Monday 15th May2023

•That’s Monday.

•Time is up but not out.

How does it work this time?

• You have all received a personalised timetable.

• Your timetable shows:

• which exams you will be taking

• where you will be sitting your exam and the seat number you have been given.

• You will be allocated a different seat for each of the exams that you take.

• We will also have a seating plan in the sports hall.

• A small number of you will be taking your exams in the LRC (Library) or the Ribble Building

What Happens?

• For each exam: You should assemble at the entrance to the Sports Hall (LRC or outside Stairwell 1 for the Ribble) 10 mins before the exam is due to start;

• Morning exams start at 9am so line up when the first bell goes!

• Afternoon exams start at 1pm So you will leave P4 at 12:45

• Lunch: for afternoon exams there will be an early lunch at 12.15pm (after P3)

What Happens?

• Lining up: Outside the Sports Hall as practised.

• Entering the sports hall: make your way into the sports hall, leave your phone in your bag (make sure it is switched off).  Take off your watch and take out your pencil case/equipment and water bottle

What Happens?

• Exam conditions: begin once you are lined up.

• Invigilation: the exams will be invigilated by external staff (as they will be in the Public exams).

• After The Exam: return to your timetabled lesson.

Exam Conduct

• The examinations will be conducted according to the JCQ regulations from the Examination Boards.

• When you enter the examination room you should go immediately to your place and sit quietly to await the start of the examination.

• There must be NO communication with any other candidate during the exam.  This means that you will NOT talk or attempt to communicate in any other way with another candidate.

Exam Conduct

UNIFORM:

• You must attend each examination in full school uniform

EQUIPMENT:

• Black pen – always bring a spare.

• Pencils, eraser, ruler and pencil sharpener.

• Tippex MUST NOT be used

• Pencil cases must be transparent or bring your equipment in a seethrough polythene bag.

• Coloured pencils for maps and diagrams etc

• Calculator and mathematical equipment – for Maths, Science and Geography.

ILLNESS:

• If you are ill on the date of one of your exams you must let the exams office know immediately.

Final Arrangements

• We will be organising pre-exam booster classes which will take place just before the exams and you will be notified on Classcharts when these are taking place.

• The exam board have designated Wednesday 28th June as a ‘contingency day’. This is an extra day which may be needed if exams are ‘significantly disrupted’ at national or local level during the main exam series.

• Any disrupted exams will be scheduled for this date and JCQ advise that all students should be available on this day, regardless of when their last exam takes place.
