THE CEDAR

Welcome to our newsletter

Orangutan Class have worked hard on their attention and communication skills, have participated in Inclusive sport sessions, and enjoyed activities on the theme of Seaside including Sensory stories, Beach 'Bucket' sessions, and explored instruments in Sounds of Intent music lessons. We visited Forest school this term with Nigel and Alexis, together with students from Knox class. The children enjoyed sensory stories, a scavenger hunt, cooking s'mores on the camp fire, a Bear Hunt, Cloud-watching and Alexis playing guitar and singing our favourite tunes. We also had trips to Reculver to enjoy a walk beside the sea, and Kearsney Abbey to relax, listen to the birds and the wind in the trees. Thank you to Knox class for inviting us to join in with Poppy Pops Bubble Party. It was great! We have had a fun year together, and have enjoyed visits from the new friends joining us in September. We hope you all have a fantastic summer!

Knox Class

We have had a wonderful summer term which has been filled with lovely moments. Forest School has been a hit (as always) as well as rebound; the smiles on our students faces have brightened our days! Our seaside theme has been lots of fun and our sensory story (including dodging seagulls and making ice creams) and our beach themed sensory music sessions have seen lots of engagement and interaction between the students themselves and for the staff and students. As our end of year treat, Poppy Pop's Magical Moments came and transformed the sports hall into a sensory party space. The students were entertained with giant bubbles, scented bubbles, a sensory ball pit and a wonderful balloon dome! It was a lovely way for us to be together and have fun after a wonderful year.

The party company Poppy Pops Bubbles Parties run SEN family sessions in Faversham over the holidays. All the details are on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/wwvSWx48bbLZhAcE/

THE CEDAR Jul

TIGER CLASS We have been working hard in Tigers for the last two terms of the year, working on EHCP targets and pre – reading skills in literacy and numeracy rotations, developing our social skills and of course, having lots of fun as well!

We have loved the big drum and testing out the sound beam in music, looking at keeping a steady beat and playing instruments with intent. We have thoroughly enjoyed rebound therapy with Anna! It has been a pleasure to work with both George and inclusive sports for our PE lessons. Pupils have been working on several gross motor skills such as balance, movement and ball skills.

A highlight of this term was our trip to Hampton Play park. Tigers were amazing, they explored the whole park and made us all proud.

We will say a sad farewell to those moving up this year (although I know you will have an amazing time) We also look forward to working again with all those who will be staying with us in September. Have a wonderful summer Tigers!

Hello from Packham class!

We had a lovely end of the year with trips to the shops and park where we enjoyed playing on the swinging and having a picnic. We have also been involved in not one but two sports days, we all had a turn at a wide range of activities and came away with lots of certificates and medals!

In class we have been leaning how to sort items in to colours and types such as transport and food. Everyone has enjoyed exploring items and learn language that helps us describe them. We have also enjoyed practicing our communication skills ask for items we want and play games such as pop-up pirate.

We are so proud of all the students in Packham class this year and what they have achieved. Have a lovely Summer Packham class

THE CEDAR

Wonder class had a fantastic summer trip to Kearsney Abbey. They explored the grounds, had a stretch on the grass and fed the birds! Everyone was very happy and smiley and luckily the sunshine held out. The class enjoyed a meal out and had an all-round lovely time.
