OZZIE’S NEWS – 13.3.20
WEDNESDAY WORD – “GOD’S LOVE” LOVE JESUS, LOVE LEARNING, LOVE EACH OTHER. OUR LENTEN ACTIVITES HAVE COMMENCED Thank you to all of our EYFS and KS1 families who provided a huge quantity of cakes for our sale. The children were selling them until Wednesday this week. Next week it is the turn of our Blackbirds, Starlings and Magpies. Each cake costs 20p each and all proceeds go to the Good Shepherd charity. We limit the children to 1 cake per day so that there is plenty for everybody. SPORTS’ RELIEF We’ve shown our support today for Sport Relief by wearing our sporty clothes and all of the children have completed circuit classes in the hall. Some of the staff have also joined in to give the children a run for their money. Thank you for your kind donations. We’ve managed to raise £353.44 from donations today and the sale of wristbands. SPARROWS’ ASSEMBLY Sparrows’ performed their assembly this morning on their Come and See theme of Change. All of the children contributed brilliantly and they also sang their song really well. Thank you for coming and supporting the children. A VISIT FROM THE PCSOs Yesterday, our local PCSOs came and spent a day with our children. They spoke to them about being safe and even let them see inside the police van and set off the sirens, whilst wearing the riot gear. The children got to ask them questions about what it’s like being a PCSO. Y5 HISTORY COMPETITION Well done to Milo, Ava, Matthew and Harry who represented St. Oswald’s in a history competition at Nicol Mere. They did really well and came 5th. One of their tasks was to create a timeline which they did brilliantly with.
INVENTORS’ CLUB This week was the last one for our young inventors and they did some invisible writing. The children will be presented with their certificates in a few weeks’ time. Well done children. Their behaviour was impeccable. TREAD UK – LOWER KS2 This week, the children were learning about fire lighting. They braved the weather for so long until eventually, rain stopped play and they had to come inside. The group leader has complimented the children on their behaviour and attitudes during the session. ASSEMBLY REMINDER EYFS have got their assembly on Friday 20th March at 9:10 a.m. It’s the special Mothers’ Day assembly. All family and friends are welcome. MENTAL HEALTH ASSEMBLY All of our children were part of an assembly on emotions, delivered by past pupils, Amy and Ellie. They reiterated the message that it’s OK to not be OK and they talked about how it’s normal to have days when you’re not feeling great. COVID-19 We can’t escape the fact COVID19 is very high on all of our agendas. The corridors are ringing with the singing of “Happy Birthday”, coming from the toilets as the children are supported with washing their hands regularly throughout the day. We’ll inform you of any developments as soon as possible. Please contact the office, not class teachers, if you have any questions or queries. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.
