OZZIE’S NEWS – 11.10.19 WEDNESDAY WORD – “THANKFULNESS”

SNAKES ALIVE!!! Zoo club was exciting this week and the children were getting close and personal with some snakes. Mrs Hassan also overcame her fear to hold not one but two snakes at the same time. Pictures are on Twitter. It’s the last Zoo Club for this group next week. TREAD UK The KS2 after school club were engaged in archery activities and were creating bird feeders this week out in the rain. There’s no such thing as bad weather. PHONICS WORKSHOP Thank you to the parents and carers who attended this session with Miss Lea and Mrs Wibberley. “I have really enjoyed today’s session and have learned about phonics especially the sounds,” was one comment from a visitor. The screens from this session will be on the website Y3 and Y4 READING WORKSHOP Mrs Colothan led a reading meeting and supported parents and carers with how to develop their child’s reading skills further. Next week, our theme is Harvest and we would like to ask you to send in any tins and packets please. We use these to make food prizes for the elderly in the parish when we host our annual Bingosingalong. If there are any tins or packages which are surplus to requirements, we donate them to the Ashton food bank. Thank you in advance for your donations. We will make a display. 1st ASHTON SCOUTS FAMILY HALLOWEEN BINGO NIGHT Amy from Owls has asked us to inform you about an exciting Halloween event. This will take place on Monday 14th October at the Scout Hut. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and Eyes down at 6:30 p.m. It’s £1 per Bingo book and there are hot dogs and refreshments available to purchase. Everyone is welcome. All money raised goes to the local scout group. EAGLES’ CLASS MASS This took place on Monday and it was lovely to see so many family members there to support. Fr John and Deacon Paul led the service which was dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. We are encouraging the children to pray sections of the Rosary throughout the month of October.

The, “Care, Love, Learn,” focus for next week is Autumn and Harvest Arts and Crafts. Our Collective Worship theme for next week is: Autumn and Harvest MASS TIMES This week it’s Synod Sunday.
