OZZIE’S NEWS – 11.1.19

WEDNESDAY WORD – “BAPTISM” LOVE JESUS, LOVE LEARNING, LOVE EACH OTHER. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK The first week back after Christmas is never an easy one and there’s been some tired faces (staff included), but the children have settled brilliantly and are looking really smart and ready to start 2019. We hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas and we wish you all the best for 2019. OUR “OUTSTANDING” RE INSPECTION REPORT This week you have received a copy of our RE inspection report, which took place in November. We are delighted with the outstanding judgements across all areas and we are looking forward to continuing with developing further our RE teaching and learning opportunities. Two of the inspectors were serving headteachers, and they couldn’t speak highly enough of the calm atmosphere and the impeccable behaviour and learning attitudes of our children. They were a credit to us and to you – true Ozzie’s Champions. POPPY APPEAL We have received a certificate this week from the Royal British Legion, thanking us for our contribution to their 2018 Poppy Appeal. St. Oswald’s raised £200 for the appeal by purchasing the poppies and the merchandise, which is always

popular. Thank you for your generosity. NINJA WARRIOR DAYS – BEAT THE ROPES! BEAT THE ROPES! This week, the children have been treated to a Ninja Warrior assembly and session, hosted by the ITV Ninja Warrior champion, Jonny Urszuly and another competitor Miss Jagger. The pupils all had an assembly on setting goals and achieving dreams and then each class had a go on a Ninja Warrior course in the school hall, assisted by Jonny and Miss Jagger. There are lots of photos and videos on Twitter and Flickr showing some very determined faces and lots of support and encouragement. ISLA AND AVA’S CHARITY WORK Congratulations to Isla Cook (Y4) and Ava Addison (Y4), who have raised £25 for the Lilac Cancer Charity, by doing make up for donations at a family event. Well done girls. AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS Letters have gone out this week inviting your child to a range of after school clubs run by Mr Little. Please send your forms back soon to avoid disappointment.
