YEAR 6 HOMEWORK Year Six, we are so proud of the effort that you put in to your homework projects during the Autumn term. Your ability to extend your learning at home and to go above and beyond what has been asked of you shows that you are fantastic role models for all children here at St John’s and those in our wider community. This half term we have provided 9 options for homework tasks and we will expect at least 5 to be completed. The homework is due Friday, 8th February, 2019. Many Thanks, Year 6 Team. Here is the homework for this half term: READING - a minimum of 30 minutes three times a week. Children should have their reading journal in school every day and are encouraged to use the comprehension section at the front of the journals to think further about their reading. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test. The children will receive spellings each week on a Monday after the spelling pattern has been introduced. MATHS - Weekly homework My maths and differentiated sheet from group teacher HOMEWORK PROJECT – See below for the 9 activities that make up this half term’s homework project. Five need to be completed and handed in on 8th February, 2019. These activities can be done in any order and will be shared in class after the deadline. They can be handed in inside the purple homework book or by email to info@stjohnsrc.net with the subject as your child’s name and class.  Design a graffiti wall that can carry a ‘Laudato Si’ message to the future generations here on earth.  Write a story set in either a Roman or Celtic settlement  Choose and English speaking country from a different continent and reseach all that you can about it. What are the similarities and differences to a country in Europe that speaks English?  Find evidence of an injustice in our world today. What could be done to change this? What could YOU do to make a change?  Choose a play written by William Shakespeare and design a story board to retell the story.  Design a powerpoint on prepositions that could be used to teach a lesson in Year 3. What activities would you use to make the lesson fun for the children?  Write a RAP about the key values at St John’s. Make sure you can perform it to the class! (Think about the expression we need to put in whilst rapping).  Choose a British artist that is still alive today and study their work. Design a pieve of your own in the stle of that artist.  Write a list of your ten favourite words. Use all ten words in a poem. It could be rhyming or freeverse, as long as your poem includes all ten words within it.
