YEAR 4 HOMEWORK READING - EVERY night for a minimum of 20 minutes. Children should have their reading journal in school every day and are encouraged to use the comprehension section at the front of the journals to think further about their reading. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test using the weekly spellings below. MATHS - The children have their own login details for My Maths Online and are encouraged to continue working through the set tasks as well as practising their times tables on TT Rockstars which is proving a huge success!
HOMEWORK PROJECT – See below for the 3 activities that make up this half term’s homework project. They need to be completed and handed in on or before Friday 12th April 2019. These activities can be done in any order and will be shared in class after the deadline. Please note, as there are only three activities this half term, we expect the effort and outcomes from the children to be of a good Y4 standard. Spring 2 Spellings RELIGION FOCUS: Lent 2019 Words Words Words Words Words Words Design and make a reflective “journal” or leaflet to use during Holy Week. WRITING FOCUS: 500 Words Writing Competition We are very excited about our writing focus homework for this half term as we are encouraging all children to enter their work into the national writing competition ‘500 Words 2019’. The children have watched the BBC Live Lesson for ‘500 words’ in class. They have a planning pack that they will bring home to assist in their writing. Stories must be submitted online no later than Friday 8th March at 7p.m. TEACHERS WILL NOT BE SUBMITTING THE STORIES – THEY MUST BE SUBMITTED FROM HOME. We are able to help the children if they wish to bring in stories for us to read and we can give them feedback; but this is a home project. We would like the children to bring a copy of their story in on homework day to share with the class. See the BBC WEBPAGE for further details on how to submit work. TOPIC FOCUS: Different places, Similar Lives As part of our new IPC topic, next term we are hoping to link up with schools in, Spain, Sweden, Pakistan and Australia. The children will be learning about children similar in age to them and the environments they live and study in. Design a questionnaire of 10 questions to ask a child in one of our link countries. Think about family life, school and hobbies as well as diet, religion and traditions.
