St. John’s RC Primary School NEWSLETTER HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and peaceful holiday and I would like to welcome you all back for the new school term. On behalf of all the staff, I would like to thank you for your thoughtful Christmas gifts and cards - your kindness is often spoken of in the staffroom. It was also lovely to receive emails, cards and comments from parents following the Christmas productions and carol service. It really does make all of the children’s achievements and staff’s hard work feel valued. We’re looking forward to the term ahead and know that the children will again have lots of enriching experiences in and outside of the classroom.
STAFF NEWS
In happy news, Mrs Speak and Mrs Warbrick are both pregnant and will be going on maternity leave this half term. Miss Connor will also be leaving us at February half term as she goes off to take up a new challenge out of the education sector. Miss Connor will be greatly missed as a kind and inspiring class teacher and by parents who have benefitted from her expertise as SENDCO. In order to ensure we continue to support our children with additional needs effectively, we have appointed Mrs Lucas as the new SENDCO. This means that Year 1 Elm will have a new full-time teacher, Mrs Pamela Prather. She is an experienced teacher who will bring great enthusiasm to the role. There will be an opportunity for parents to meet her before she takes up the post. Mrs Speak teaches in Year 3 Cherry on a Thursday and Friday and her class will be taken by Miss Murray on those days. We are very fortunate to be able to keep Miss Seymour in Year 2 Chestnut until the end of the year while Miss Murray works with key groups across Year 2.
PTA
The next PTA meeting will be held at the Speed Eagle pub on Wilbraham Road at 7.30pm on the 31st January 2019. Everyone is most welcome!
