Here is the homework for this half term: READING - EVERY night for a minimum of 20 minutes. Children should have their reading journal in school every day and are encouraged to use the comprehension section at the front of the journals to think further about their reading. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test using the weekly spellings below. MATHS • Practise timetables for weekly ‘Multiplication Club’ tests. This half term we will be looking at 3,4,5 and 10 times tables • Four Maths tasks for this half term have been set up on mymaths.co.uk. If you are having problems accessing this or have forgotten your login details, please contact your child’s class teacher. HOMEWORK PROJECT – See below for the activities that make up this half term’s homework project. They need to be completed and handed in on or before Friday, 7th December 2018. These activities can be done in any order and can be handed in in any format: paper, scrapbook, PowerPoint presentation etc. As we want the children to get the most out of their homework project, we do ask that they take as much care with the presentation of their homework as they they do with their work in class and that when the internet is being used for research, that the children are writing/typing up their work and not copying large chunks from websites such as Wikipedia. • •
To continue to learn The Act of Contrition, in preparation for the children’s Sacrament of Reconciliation. Choose an island that is different from our own and make a study of it. You could write a factfile about it, write a story based there, make a poster advertising it, make a model, paint a picture…the choice is yours. What we want to know is…. Geographical research – how is the landscape , climate different? What animals live on this island? What is life like for the people of this island? – are there any cultural aspects of this island? What is the history of this island?
The children will have the opportunity to share their homework with the rest of the class on Friday 7h December.
