Assessment

Pupils in year 7 develop basic skills in gymnastics, netball, tennis, rouders, athletics, football, hockey, cricket, indoor athletics, handball, tag rugby, orienteering, basketball, badminton, fitness. All students will study to gain a greater depth of knowledge in athletics, gymnastics, handball netball or football and will be assessed for competence in these sports. All other sports are dependant on facility availability and staffing.

Basic rules of the games, the key technique points for basic skills. Movement skills. Attacking and defensive roles. Positions in a game. Gymnastics- use of body to create shapes and movement over varying height and on different body parts.

Netball - 4 passes, footwork, timing, dodging, shooting, positions for game, pivot, 1st stage defence, rules of obstruction, contact and footwork.

Football - control with different body parts, passing, dribling, tackling(block/slide), turns and stops, shooting.

Warm up and cool down - 3 phases, pulse raiser, stretches, skill drill, 10-15 minutes and 30 for professionals and officials. Gymnasticsmethods of travel, rolls, balances, routine creation, jumps, fluencyand movement, body tension.

Handball - basic rules of handball, correct grip, 3 steps and bounce, movement, basic shooting, individual defending, blocking, basic positions, small sided, team defence.

Basketball -dribbling, handling, passing short, marking manto-man, footwork, shooting, lay up. Hockey - grip, dribbling, right hand dodge, control and stopping, opens stick tackle, aim of of defence, embed use of front sticfootwork, 3v3, reverse stick.

Badminton - key details for basic shots, basic singles game rules for singles.

Badminton - grip, underarm clear, serve (high/short), movement, basic singles, backhand correct. Orienteeringset up a map, read a map, follow a star course, decision make to complete the course quickly, complete full course.

Circuit creation and understanding of safe technique for performing all the stations required on fitness, how to take heart rate, basic muscles being stretched, what lactic acid is.

Muscular systemfunctions, types of muscle, diaphragm, correct names of muscles, strength training to increase muscle size. Fitness -technique of sations, data collection, normal resting heart rate, basic muscle names, lactic acid definition.

Girl's football - control of ball, short/long passing, protecting the ball, turning with the ball, dribbling. Tag rugby - handling, running with the ball, passing, defensive line, rules, 5-a-side games. Rugby - handling, running witht the ball, basic passing, tackling, wrestling, defensive alignmnet, support play, kicking.

Cardiac systemlocation of heart, 4 chambers, atrai main aorta, arteries and veins functions, heart attacks. Throwsbasic technique with indoor equipment, jumps take off and flight, sprint starts.

Throughout all sports taught, students have promoted to the importance of a healthy, balanced lifestyle with regards to nutirition, maintining and improving physical health, injury and treatment and how sportsing success is also protmoted through looking after our bodies correctly. How can they develop their own performance to be the best they can can be and improve on previous performances. Spiritually we promote in all sports justice and truth by following and applying rules correctly promoting fairness and good sportsmanship, endurance and resilience to persevere when taks or skills are hard to master, tolerance of others who have different skils to them, thankfulness for the body God has given them and how to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat in all competitive situations.
