Sacred Heart is a popular, high-achieving and successful school that is committed to ensuring all children achieve their very best. Our school day

Our school day starts at 8:40am and ends at 3:15pm. Gates open at 8:30am and registration is at 8:40am.

Wraparound care

Breakfast Club begins at 7:45am until the start of the school day. Children can be dropped off at school for Wake up and Shake up at 8:30-8:40am.

Our school uniform

The school uniform can be purchased from either our school uniform supplier (Elizabeth’s Embroidery) or in any supermarket.

Our curriculum

At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School our curriculum is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning, to ensure achievement and to support pupil wellbeing and happiness.

Our curriculum is driven by the need to prepare our children for lifelong learning. At Sacred Heart, we offer a rich and vibrant curriculum which is ambitious for all learners.

Through our curriculum, we develop the essential knowledge, skills and understanding which are the building blocks for later life.

Our curriculum encompasses not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum but goes beyond the experiences of the classroom to ensure that our children are exposed to the richest and most varied opportunities that we can provide.

We offer learning experiences which promote confident, self-motivated pupils, eager for lifelong learning.

Special educational needs and disabilities

As an inclusive school, all teachers are teachers of pupils with special educational needs & disabilities (SEND). We deliver a curriculum and create an environment that meets the needs of every pupil within our school. We ensure that every pupil with SEND makes the best progress possible. We foster and promote effective working partnerships with parents, carers, pupils, and outside agencies. We consider the ‘whole’ child and strive to ensure that all our SEND pupils are prepared for adulthood.

Apply for a place at Sacred Heart

Starting primary school is a very important time for you and your child and at Sacred Heart, we aim to make this a happy experience for everyone. Children can start school in our Reception class in the September of the academic year in which they will be five years old.

If your child is not already attending our school Nursery, they will be invited to spend some informal sessions with their new teacher and other children from the class in the summer term in order to familiarise themselves with the school environment. An information evening for our new Reception class parents is also held in the summer term.

For mid-year admissions, at other times of the year or for year groups other than Reception, please go through Hartlepool Borough Council (https:// www.hartlepool.gov.uk/info/20014/schools_and_learning/655/in_ year_school_admissions). We highly recommend contacting the school in the first instance for a visit.

Nursery Admissions

At Sacred Heart, we offer a wonderful nursery setting for three year olds. The nursery is open from 8:30am (term time only) and can be a mix of both government funded hours and private payment. Please visit our website for more information.
