Executive Headteacher’s Message Dear Parents and families, As we approach the holiday season, the New Year allows us to reflect on what has been an eventful autumn term. Anyone passing the college in recent months will have had sight of the scaffold, skips and tradesmen on or around the building as our programme of essential works continues. Moreover, a significant step was taken on 1st November when both college and primary formally joined Aquinas – an established trust of eleven schools across two local authorities. Alongside our investment in the building comes a greater investment in the children, young people and adults who attend on a daily basis. There is a genuine focus on learning and the leadership of learning that typifies the trust’s approach to schooling – we strive to ensure every learner succeeds and realises their full potential regardless of background or start point. At this time of the year, it seems appropriate to renew our partnership with our local community – we are committed to maintaining each school’s individual identity – so we become good ‘local’ schools and the first choice for Rye’s families. We wish everyone connected with us a very peaceful, restful and loving Christmas. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year, refreshed and revitalised – ready for an exciting year ahead! Supporting the Rye Foodbank The Student Leadership Team wanted to support our local food bank this Christmas, as they recognised that this can be a difficult year for some families. The students lead assemblies for each year group to introduce their idea, and the response was overwhelming. Each form was asked to donate items from a list that included day to day items, as well as more Christmassy items such a crackers, mince pies and Christmas puddings. In total the students managed to provide over 20 boxes of goodies! Chris Emson from the Rye Foodbank came to collect our boxes on Monday, and is looking forward to distributing them to those in need. We are very proud of our students for leading on this initiative, and would like to thank all of our families for their generous donations.

Rye Travelling Crib Rye Travelling Crib was gratefully received by Head Students at Rye College from Head Pupils at Rye Community Primary School on Wednesday 12th December. The Travelling Crib then spent the evening at Rye College before being passed on to the next member of the Rye Community on Thursday 13th December.

Year 7 Service of Dedication On Thursday, 15th November our Year 7’s became part of a long tradition at Rye College by attending a service of Dedication at St Mary’s Church in Rye Town. The students walked to the church and took part in a service with a mix of music, readings and singing along with prayers led by Canon David Frost. It was lovely to see all of the students representing the college in the community.
