Teaching Staff for Academic Year 2023/24
As we get closer to the end of the academic year and the start of the next, we have a couple of goodbyes to say, as well as welcoming another into our community.
As you are already aware, Mrs Parkinson will be retiring at the end of this academic year and our new appointments for next year are Mrs Quigley, Headteacher and Mrs Akinyemi, Deputy Head/Senco. We will also be saying goodbye to Mrs Bradshaw, who has been part of our school community for 22 years! We are sure that you will all, like us, be sad to see her leave, but also wish her well in her retirement. Miss Dell, Miss Noguerol-Ramirez and Mr Savage will also be leaving us at the end of this academic year to continue their careers elsewhere. We will miss them all and wish them much happiness and success for the future.
We have appointed a new teacher, Miss Katy Cunliffe and we know you will all make her feel welcome. She will be coming into school over the next few weeks to work with Year 3, the class she will be teaching next year in Y4, so she will have already established really positive relationships with the class. Mrs Horner and Mrs Walker-Wiggans will be joining us as class teaching assistants. We are delighted with these appointments and know they will be assets to our school and community.
Mrs Oakes will release Mrs Akinyemi for her deputy head and Senco leadership time on Thursdays and Miss Cunliffe’s ECT( Early Career Teacher) statutory release time from class, covering Y4 each Friday, teaching topic/ foundation subjects.

Four children have been found alive after surviving a plane crash and spending forty days alone in Colombia’s Amazon jungle. Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, heralded the rescue as a joy for the whole country. The four siblings were the only survivors of the plane that crash landed in the jungle on 1 May. They became the focus of a massive rescue operation, involving soldiers and local volunteers. Speaking of the incredible feat of survival, Gustavo Petro said, ‘they were alone, they themselves achieved an example of total survival, which will remain in history’
The four children, aged 13, 9, 5 and 1, survived a plane crash in the middle of the jungle in Colombia. The family are members of the Huitoto people, who learn hunting, fishing and gathering from an early age.
The children ate fruit, seeds and a type of flour to survive. The eldest, 13 year old Lesly, knew which fruits were safe to eat (important, as there are many poisonous fruits in the forest) and she knew how to care for a baby.
Things to talk about at home:
* What skills and attributes do you imagine the children would have needed in their situation?
* Can you think of a time when you have needed to be brave? What happened?
* Talk to an adult at home and ask them about a time when they needed to be brave.
Wow!
What a day!
We are over the moon with the turn out for our summer fair and overwhelmed with the support from everyone.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our local businesses - White Lace Bakery, Friends Lane Riding School, Warrington Youth Zone, Crafty Little Devil, Usborne, Barista Ze, Melanie Choudary, Body Shop, Charlotte, Utility Warehouse, Angela’s Pies, Jigna (Henna hands) and the fantastic duo of face painters - I hope you got as much from the day as you gave us!
My second thank you needs to go to the fantastic trio of paramedics from Ambulnz Community Partners who gave their free time to come down and not only assist with providing first aid support, but also allowed our families to look around their ambulance and play the siren - multiple times!
My final thanks needs to go to our amazing teachers and school staff who not only gave their free time to support us but also helped with running stalls and ensuring the inflatable was as fun as it looked - we can confirm it was! Also, our amazing choir and Mr Wiebe, for opening the show and a special thank you to Mrs Parkinson, Mrs Quigley and Mrs Akinyemi who took one for the team and sat in the hot seat - Soak the Teacher.
My biggest thanks must go to my wonderful team of superhumans and volunteers, especially Jadewho have all worked tirelessly, not just today, but for the last 8 weeks during the organisation and planning stages: Helen, Mel, Jamie, Marie, Sue, Dylan, Liv, Paul, Zoe, Michelle, Michael, Josh, Polly and Fiona! Thank you for giving your time today. Without the support from everyone involved, from the planning to the packing away- days like today would not be possible and projects such as our "Sensory Garden" wouldn't be funded.
I'm so pleased to say that our summer fair 2023 totalled an amazing £1386.58 with money still coming in from our plant sales and the upcoming raffle . We won't know how much we have raised in total until all our summer events have taken place. I hope you all enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did. You have all been incredible.
Have a lovely weekend !
