Park Road Sports Day
Weather permitting, it will be our Sports Day on Monday 17 July. We will notify you by Seesaw if we have to cancel Sports Day due to the weather (if it is cancelled, we will let you know as soon as the decision is made so if you don’t hear from us, it is still taking place). It is important that you keep an eye on Seesaw messages as each year we receive lots of calls asking for information that we don’t have so please DO NOT ring school in the morning to ask for an update. Don’t forget to arrange to pass on the information to anyone who does not have access to Seesaw. If it is cancelled, Sports Day will be rescheduled for Wednesday with the same timings.
Please could we ask that parents/carers stay in the designated area and do not distract their children as they will be under the supervision of the teachers and there are a lot of races to get through. It will be a traditional Sports Day with sprints, egg and spoon race, skipping and long distance running.
IMPORTANT: Children MUST wear their full PE kit (plain white, round necked t-shirt, black shorts or skort) with BLACK OR WHITE TRAINERS (not slip

Austrian artist Gustav Klimt’s final portrait has become the most expensive artwork ever auctioned in Europe. The painting, called Lady with a Fan, sold for the final price of £85.3m at Sotherby’s in London. It was sold to an art collector from Hong Kong, with three other bidders hoping to buy the piece. When Klimt died in 1918, the portrait of the unnamed woman was still on an easel in his studio. The estimated sale price was a much lower £65m, which bidders quickly went over, and the painting sold in just 10 minutes.
Gustav Klimt was born in 1862 and died in 1918. He was an Austrian painter and illustrator and was one of the founders of Vienna Secession in 1897. This was a group of painters, sculptors and architects who wanted to create change and become modern. They used expressive, natural and flowing lines and shapes that were more decorative than realistic in their works. Klimt had a ‘golden phase’ when he used actual gold in his paintings. One of his most famous works is called ‘The Tree of Life’.
Things to talk about at home:
Do you enjoy looking at or making art?
Is there any artwork displayed around your home or in your room?
Talk with people at home about why they feel some people choose to spend so much on pieces of art.
PE Experience Day
On Tuesday 18 July, we will be having a whole school PE day with different sports providers providing a wealth of experiences across the day for our children linked to our values. All children will need to come into school in their PE Kit on that day.
Bookbags
Please could you place any orders for bookbags or water bottles by Wednesday 19 July to allow us time to process the orders and get them to you by the end of the week. After Wednesday, we will do our best to get them to you before school closes on the Friday but we can’t guarantee it. Please remember that the school office will not open again until Tuesday 5 September and anything ordered over the holidays will not be available until after Thursday 7 September.

School Meals Price Increase September 2023
Please be advised that the cost of a school meal is set to rise from £2.40 to £2.60 from September 2023, resulting in an overall weekly increase of £1 per child.
This is the first price increase in school meals since 2019 as the council has prioritised supporting families in these times of hardship. Where possible, the council will continue to subsidise services where it can and are looking at support for those families that are struggling but are not eligible for free school meals. Further information on this will be shared in the new academic year.
The three weekly rolling menu detailing each day’s main course and dessert, with the additional daily offer of a vegetarian option and jacket potato will remain in place. The school meals service will continue to provide a high-quality service that delivers healthy, nutritious meals, caters for all allergens and dietary requirements, and is served in a safe environment on our school premises. We will continue to offer theme days and treat lunches.
Fundraising Success
A huge thank you to everyone that has supported us during our summer events!
We are extremely pleased with our results this TERM and can proudly announce that due to the hard work of our PFA and the support we’ve received via grants including £1600 from ASDA, £935 from Warrington Charities Trust and £500 from Crest Medical, we have agreed to pledge a further £3000 to the project for this year leaving the current total of funding at £5000 with hope to be able to support further once all our commitments have been fulfilled.
We are still in the planning stages of next years events and looking for fresh ideas - we would LOVE to hear from you so please send any ideas to the email address at the bottom of the page.
It’s coming to the end of our year, which means our current Trustees will be stepping down and a full board of Trustees will be re-elected. The date for our AGM will be announced next week once a few final details are agreed, however at this point we would be very blessed if you could think about joining our team and helping us to be bigger and do better next year! We have a few Trustees who are wanting to stand for their position again next year but the election process must be followed. If you are interested in joining or feel you can add to our board in another way please let me know.
Have a lovely weekend
