4 Thursday 5
The end of summer term is here, and I just cannot believe it! Time has flown; it seems like just a moment ago that we were starting the year off in September.
This year we have had lots to celebrate and enjoy from wonderful trips, to exciting learning, to whole school community events. I would struggle to pick my favourite part, however, the most notable thing for me has been seeing the children come into school every day, always trying their best and growing so much throughout the year. Just last week we enjoyed the Olympics Celebration and that for me is everything that Park Road is about community, teamwork, enjoyment and enthusiasm. The way our children work together is lovely and we are so lucky to have each and everyone of them with us.
Our Year 6 children have today enjoyed their final day in school, signing shirts, having a pizza lunch and enjoying an ice cream celebration. Over the last 7 years, we have watched them grow and develop and become the brilliant young people they are today. Last night and this morning, we enjoyed a wonderful performance of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and I couldn’t have been more proud. I know there were a few tears, including from the staff, but we cannot wait to see them go off and fly and shine like the stars we know they are, in whatever their future holds. Year 6 please do keep in touch and let us know about everything you go on to do never forget how amazing you are!
I mustn’t end the year without saying a huge thank you to the wonderful staff, who every day aim to provide the best possible experience of education for your child, frequently going above and beyond. Everyone works so hard from preparing and teaching lessons, to organising events, to cooking the lunches, and I know you will join me in saying a big thank you. Mrs Walker-Wiggans sadly leaves us today, to take up a new position elsewhere. We wish her the best of luck, and know she will be amazing in her new role.
And finally, a very big thank you to all of our families our school community is the wonderful place it is because of you. Whether that is because you are part of our PFA (who are amazing and do so much for school!), you support with trips, events or home learning, or you always have a smile or chat on the gate in the morning.
I wish you all an enjoyable, safe and hopefully sunny summer and we will look forward to seeing you at 8:35 on Wednesday 4 September!.
Best Wishes, Mrs Q
Love from, Everyone at Park Road
As you leave Park Road today, never forget who you are, the successes you have had, and the wonderful young person you have become. Each and every one of you should be so proud of yourselves. We have loved having you as part of our school, and I know I speak for everyone when I say how lucky we are to have had the opportunity to teach you, support you and watch you grow.
Everyday, even if it feels scary, take a chance in your learning each day brings something new, and you never know that one little chance might go on to be the best thing that ever happened! We are always here if you need us, and even if you don’t, come and keep us up to date about what’s happening, what you are up to, and just generally how amazing you are.
Please remember that the school is closed until September and there will not be any opportunity to collect items before we reopen on Wednesday 4 September.
Mrs Wilkinson would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Baker and Jade from Chapelford Sainsbury’s, for organising and donating lots of fabulous resources which we can use at our Gardening Club in the Autumn Term . We really appreciate your support - thank you so much.
Please note the new prices for snacks from September 2024:

What a year for fundraising. We've had some fun times, challenging times, chocolicious times, waterlogged times but mostly we've pulled together as a community and not only put on some unforgettable events but raised funds that will make a huge difference around the school.
As the Chair of the PFA I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents, carers, grandparents, aunts, uncles and neighbours who have given their time at some point to help us run events.
I'd like to thank my team who month in, month out attended our planning meetings - my Vice Chair, Jade, who is the Thelma to my Louise ☺ but mostly I’d like to thank our children who show immense patience and incredible behaviour when we hold these events.
I hope our Year 6s had a fantastic last week in school, enjoyed their PFA funded Domino’s lunch and we want to wish them the very best for the next step of their education journey. I know each and every one of them will achieve great things.
Lastly, our AGM will be held at the same time as our Welcome Chingo, on Thursday 26 September. We found last year this was a much better way of holding our AGM and hope as many as possible can join us.
As an end of year treat, the PFA invited Matt’s Ices to school and paid for every child to enjoy an ice cream - I hope everyone enjoyed themthey tasted great at our summer fair!
From one very tired and excited for summer Chairperson- see you next year!
