Taekwon-do

Joe K in Year 3 took part in the English national Taekwon-do champions league competition in Penrith last weekend. This was his first national competition and he won the silver medal for sparring. He was nervous about competing and Taekwon-do has core values, two of which are courage and indomitable spirit and we think he really showed both of these. Well done Joe, what an amazing achievement.

Gymnastic Success
The coronation of King Charles III is taking place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May. During the ceremony, the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort. Buckingham Palace has announced various events for the weekend, including a concert and laser light show at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May. There will be an extra bank holiday across the UK on Monday 9 May and people are also being invited to hold street parties, and to take part in volunteering projects in their local community.
A coronation is a special ceremony, where a new king or queen is crowned in front of lots of people. There are often many special things that happen during a coronation, which enhance the celebrations.
Things to talk about at home:
* Do you plan to watch the coronation, is it something that you are looking forward to?
* Are there any special events organised in your local area?

* What other events do you like to celebrate and how do you celebrate them?
Last weekend, Heidi S in Year 6 took her National Grade 4 in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and achieved a ’commended’ at Grade 4. Well done Heidiyou should be very proud of yourself, we certainly are!

Emily M and Emily W competed in a gymnastics competition this weekend. Emily M was awarded a silver medal for her floor routine and a silver medal on the vault. Emily W was awarded a bronze medal for the vault. Well done to you both for your great results!
Abi W in Year 5 also took part in the gymnastics competition. This was her first time competing and her family are very proud of her and we are too! Well done Abi!
