Santa and Reindeer A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR CHILDREN, THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS FOR RUNNING AND WALKING SO MANY MILES AND RAISING SO MUCH MONEY IN THE NORTH POLE SPONSORED RUN. The overall total raised is £1971 and we expect this total to rise.

This is a phenomenal amount and we are so grateful and proud of you all, particularly given the challenging times we are in. Every penny will go towards school resources and improvements that your children will all benefit from so thank you for such a generous community effort.

The children all took part in crossing the finishing line and were greeted by Santa and two of his reindeer to thank them for working so hard to raise this money and reach the North Pole.

Also a HUGE Thank you to the PFA for arranging for Santa and his reindeer to come into school on Wednesday. It was a really magical way to begin the Christmas season and the children and staff had an amazing morning!

Thank you to Northwest Reindeer for helping to bring the Reindeer to school. If anyone would like information on getting a visit from the Reindeer or some of their friends, you can contact Sam or Kurt on 0161 775 157.

Christmas Performances The timings have been added to Seesaw for the Christmas class performances. If you would like to watch the live performance, please email the school office, with (for example) YEAR 5 PERFORMANCE REQUEST in the subject line to parkroad_primary@omegamat.co.uk. Please include your child's name, your name and the email address that you would like us to send the link to. The link for the performance will be sent out 15-30 minutes before the start time - please check your junk or spam folder if you haven't received the link.

Don’t forget that on the day of their class performance, your child can come to school in a festive top.

Pantomime The children really enjoyed the pantomime ‘Handsome and Dettol’ today … oh yes they did!

There was lots of audience participation—we could even hear them from the office!

Bringing Items to School Please remember to send your child in at the start of the day with everything that they will need: bookbags, water bottles, coats, hats, gloves, glasses etc. Although the national lockdown has ended, we have not changed our policy about receiving items into school. We have to minimise the number of people moving around school and the contact that they have with one another. If your child has forgotten something such as a water bottle, we will provide a spare water bottle for the day that has been sterilised. If your child forgets their packed lunch from home, we will let you know and they will be provided with a meal from Carol.

One Way System We would like to say thank you to everyone who is following our request on Seesaw to adhere to our one way systems and for not gathering at the gates when dropping off or picking up—it has been less congested at the gates.

Change to Holiday Dates Following a decision to unify the holiday dates of the MAT schools, we have had to change some of the holiday dates for 2021/22. The updated dates are attached for your information.

Christmas Lunch The rota for the Christmas lunches in the final week are as follows: On Tuesday 15 December, Reception class, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 will have their Christmas lunch. The remaining years will have packed lunches in their classroom.

On Wednesday 16 December, Year 3,Year 4 and Year 5 will have their Christmas lunch.

The remaining years will have packed lunches in their classroom.

Christmas Decorations Request Thank you to everyone who has donated decorations, it is very much appreciated. We can still take any last minute donations so if you do have any, please let us know.

Hot Chocolate and Cake Each week, the Midday Assistants select children for their good manners and for displaying school values at lunchtime to join Mrs Parkinson for hot chocolate and cake. Mrs Parkinson loves meeting the children and chatting with them while they enjoy their treats but unfortunately, she is not able to do this due to distancing guidelines so instead of joining Mrs Parkinson in her office, we are sending a hot chocolate and cake pack home with your child for them to enjoy at their leisure!

Recycling Bank If you are having a clear out over the Christmas break and you are able to donate any unwanted items for recycling please bear our recycling bank in mind.The items that you can and can’t recycle are shown in the picture below.

If you are able to donate items, please could you avoid dropping them off during the start and end of school as the car park does get very busy during these times—you are able to access the recycling bank outside of school hours too.

The school will receive funds for every kg collected and recycled. Thank you.

Foodbank Donations Don’t forget that we will be continuing to collect any items for our local Foodbank and our trolley will be at the front of school.

Class Books Last academic year, each year created a book that included work from every child in their class and parents/carers were given the opportunity to buy a copy. We still have a few of the Class Books available to buy. The books make a lovely keepsake or could be a way to show friends or relatives the work that your child has done.

The books cost £3.50 each and can be purchased on ParentPay.

Well done Year 1

Miss Akinyemi and Miss Dell would like to say a huge well done for the hard work Year 1 are doing at home! Whilst we have been off we have been writing diary entries, working on number bonds and observing the seasons.

Miss Akinyemi has even had a cheeky elf visiting her house to send messages to the class.

We can’t wait to be back in school as a class. Well done year 1 we are so proud of you!

Trek to Lapland Update Thank you to everyone who returned their trackers and sponsorship money. There is still time to bring in any sponsorship money so please send it in to your class teacher.

Christmas Cards With Your Child’s Drawing This year we have changed the company that we use to produce the Christmas cards containing a picture made by your child. Children designed their Christmas cards and they were sent directly to the Christmas card company. The proofs are now available to view via an online portal and full details on how to access this will be posted on Seesaw. You can place orders and pay online with direct to door shipping!

Class Raffle Tickets This year, the PFA’s Christmas raffle tickets will be on sale to win a hamper as shown in the picture opposite. There is a prize to be won in each class so your chances of winning are even better!

The raffle tickets will be sent home either on Friday 4 or Monday 7 December so please keep an eye out for them. The cost is £1 per strip, please write your name, contact details and child’s class on the back of each ticket in the strip. We have included extra tickets for you to share with friends and family if you would like but do remind them to put your child’s class on the ticket.

The draw will take place week commencing 14 December so please return the tickets/money by Friday 11 December—please post ALL entries in the Santa Post Box that will be at the entrance to school each morning next week, they should not be returned to class.
