Water Bottle Plea
During this very warm weather, please remember to send a filled water bottle in each day for your child. We have a limited number of spare bottles in school for emergency use but we are regularly running out of them. By having a bottle of water in school, your child has constant access to a drink without interrupting their learning. Thank you for your support with this.
Warrington Guardian Y6 Leavers Photograph
The Warrington Guardian newspaper will be in school on Wednesday to take a photograph of our Year 6 leavers that will be included in a special edition later in the year. We will be contacting parents who currently have not given permission for their child’s photograph to be taken to check this is still the case - if you receive a message, please let us know your wishes as soon as possible. Thank you.

Sickness Guidelines Reminder
Please remember that, following the advice of Public Health England, we ask that children are kept off school for 48 hours after the last instance of sickness (even if only sick once)/ diarrhoea.
We ask this for two reasons: firstly, it will prevent the spread of the illness throughout the local community and secondly, to allow your child time to fully get back on their feet.
We do understand that children want to return to school and don’t want to miss out but it can set them back, particularly if they are not yet eating properly or returned to full health. We appreciate your help with this.

Within the next ten years, people may be able to travel between London and Sydney in just two hours by journeying through space on a sub-orbital flight. The current length of a traditional flight between London, UK, and Sydney, Australia, is at least 2022 hours and usually entails a stop-off to refuel along the way. A sub-orbital flight involves launching a spacecraft to an altitude above the Kármán line (the boundary of space).
Space flight, as a form of travel, has been accessible for a small number of very wealthy people in the past, but a new plan could see travellers leaving the earth to travel from London to Sydney in two hours. However, it may not be a comfortable journey.
Research by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) suggests people will be able to make the journey this way, although making it a possibility it could be tricky. The main issue is ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers, who will be exposed to very high G-force (this is the measurement of force as something is speeding up or down). It can make people feel quite uncomfortable , similar to being on a very, very fast rollercoaster.
Things to talk about at home:
* Share your experience of the different types of transport you have encountered e.g. bikes, cars, planes, ferries. Which is your favourite way to travel and why?
* Do you think you would like to travel on a suborbital flight? Why?
* How do you believe sub-orbital travel could change the world?

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme is Ready, Set, Read!, created in partnership with Youth Sport Trust and illustrated by children’s writer and illustrator Loretta Schauer.
With an exciting theme around games, sports and play, the challenge aims to keep children's minds and bodies active over the summer break, empowering young people to forge new connections with others and unleash the power of play, sport and physical activity through reading. They will join a superstar team of characters and their marvellous mascots as they navigate a fictional summer obstacle course brought to life by Loretta Schauer’s colourful illustrations.
How the Challenge works
Children sign up at their local library and receive a Ready, Set, Read! collector folder
Children borrow and read at least six library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their folder and incentives along the way
Library staff and young volunteers are on hand to advise and run family-friendly activities
Children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal
