Schools Games Mark
The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

This year, we are delighted that although we applied for the Silver award, we were awarded Gold! Congratulations to everyone involved particularly Miss Mills, Mr Savage and the Sports Crew.
THANK YOU PFA
Transition week
Y4/Y5 swimming lessons
NO R,1,2 Bat and Ball Club
We wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to the PFA for last week’s Summer Fair - it was a huge success, thanks to the PFA and particularly Kelly and Jade. The feedback from children, staff and our school community has been so positive with lots of talk of it being the best yet how will you be able to top that next year?
No Disney Stars or Bat and Ball Clubs
Unfortunately, next week we will not be able to run our Disney Stars or Bat and Ball clubs. As you may be aware, Mr Savage has injured his foot and is on crutches. His mobility has slightly improved so he is able to run the KS2 clubs but does not have the dexterity for the EYFS/KS1 clubs. A refund will be issued for the Bat and Ball Club.

The Picture News topic is

Year 2 Class Assembly
The Year 2 Class Assembly will be held on Tuesday 4 July at 2.50 pm. Parents, carers and families of Year 2 children are invited to join us to watch the assembly. Entry will be via the KS2 gate at 2.45 pm. We hope you can join us!
A new UK government campaign hopes to encourage young people to ‘respect, protect and enjoy’ the countryside. The campaign follows new research from Natural England, which shows that 80% of children and young people agreed that looking after the environment was important to them, and 83% said they wanted to do more to look after nature and wildlife. The well-known character, Shaun the Sheep is the new face of the Countryside Code.
Natural England (the government organisation responsible for informing and educating people about nature and the countryside) together with it’s partners, have joined with Aardman, the company behind Shaun the Sheep, to launch a new campaign raising awareness of the Countryside Code.
Things to talk about at home:
* Share what you know about the Countryside Code and ask an adult at home what they know. Ask them where they’ve visited before and what they remember about their experiences.
* Share your thoughts on the Shaun the Sheep campaign. Do you feel it is a good idea to help young people understand the Countryside Code?

Super Litter Picker
Milton in Year 4 wanted to do something to help the community this weekend, after learning about plastic waste in the sea. His family couldn’t squeeze in a beach visit, so he spent his time gathering a bag of litter from a nearby field.

Any spare colourful child wellies?
Mrs Parkinson is planning our lovely sensory garden and is looking for any toddler/child sized, colourful, patterned wellies (ie not the usual black or green) that are no longer needed. If you do have any that you would be happy to donate, please could you drop them off at the school office. Thank you.
There are 2 summer events left- Barrow hall primary school summer fair (tonight 30 June 2023 16:1518:15) and the Penketh Carnival on Saturday 8 July 2023 so will know how much we have raised in total from our "summer events" by the end of the term - figure to follow.

Summer Fair Survey -Thank you to those who have taken the time to send some feedback for our summer fair via the forms link sent out. If you haven't done so yet, please complete the form as it will be used to help shape our future events based on what works best for everyone.
We've had 11 responses so far with a general consensus that the event was enjoyed by all, none of those who have completed helped with setup/running of the event due to commitments, there was some suggestions about the days the events are held on and some fantastic ideas for future events. We are taking it all on board. We will wait for a few more feedback forms to come through before we review it fully. Thank you for taking the time so far to help. A full report will be sent out in due course.
Work Place Matched Funding- If your work place offers matched funding please let us know. Matched funding is a fantastic way for us to top up our money pot with some companies offering upto £500 in matched funding. Please speak to us if you are unsure. Weve got 2 events so far which are eligible for being proposed.
Project It was agreed at last night’s meeting that the PFA will continue to support the "SENSORY GARDEN" project . For clarity, we have allocated £2000 towards the project so far and a further £500 has already been invested into the year 2 outdoor area. Further funds will be allocated to the project over the coming months to help transform the area. We will soon be looking for our next project to fund
Have a lovely weekend !

Active Future are running a summer HAF provision on behalf of Warrington Borough Council. HAF stands for Holiday Activity and Food camps, which are completely free for children in receipt of means tested free school meals (this is not the same as the Universal Free School Meals received in Early Years/Key Stage 1).

This program will run at Penketh High School and Birchwood High School from Monday 24 July at 10 am and will run for 4 hours a day, 4 days per week for 6 weeks.
It will be run as a multisport camp focusing on the more non traditional sports to promote inclusion and it will include professionals speaking with the young people about mental health and the benefits of physical activity. Children will receive a breakfast and hot nutritious lunch. Spaces are limited to 50 kids per venue so early booking is advised.
