Autumn Term Introduction to RE and inspirational people. Students will study a variety of inspirational people from a variety of religious backgrounds in order to investigate how religion can change our world.

ME, MYSELF & I Students will study a range of autobiographical texts to help them to identify the key features of an Autobiography, before writing their own autobiography chapters.
AN INTRODUCTION TO SHAKESPEARE An Introduction to Shakespeare: students will study a range of Shakespeare texts to help introduce them to the Bard’s work and his use of language. They will begin to analyse character and language in range of his plays to help prepare them for the demands of studying a whole Shakespeare play in Year 8.
Geography
Our Local Area Students will study their local area, learning how to interpret a range of geographical sources, including OS Maps and GIS (Geographical Information Systems).
Our Local Area/Our Island Home Students will continue to explore the local area of Ormskirk and West Lancashire using Digi-Map, before looking further afield at the physical and human geography of the UK.
History
How did the Norman Conquest change England? Students will study the Battle of Hastings and how the Normans consolidated their power. Topics included will be the Feudal system and also changes that include landownership, laws, the landscape and the language.
How religious were people in the Middle Ages? Students will study the importance of religion in the Middle Ages. This will include investigating the life of monks and nuns with a focus on Burscough Priory. Students will also investigate the significance of the Crusades.
Spanish
Classroom language and basics in Spanish Pupils will learn classroom routines , how to ask and understand questions in Spanish lessons as well as introducing themselves in Spanish: name, age, birthday. They will also learn to describe what they carry in their backpack and the alphabet in Spanish for pronunciation purposes. We will also have the opportunity to explore cultural traditions of Spanish speaking countries during Christmas.
