A clear focus on quality first teaching.

All students will study a broad & balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3: English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, PSHE, Religious Education, Spanish, PE, Art, Computer Science, Technology, Drama, French and Music

Extra-curricular- many opportunities to try something new & enriching.

Our Reading Curriculum

Our whole-school reading strategy is divided into 3 strands:

1. Reading Intervention for ‘Aspiring Readers’.

2. Reading within the Curriculum.

3. Reading for Pleasure.

Marking & Feedback

Student work is assessed regularly by various methods.

This can include:

• Peer and self-marking

• Verbal feedback

• Whole class feedback

• Written feedback

• SEELIT (Successes, Effort, Errors, Literacy, Improvement Tasks)

Homework

“Meaningful homework in order to reinforce learning and promote independence”

• Purposeful and meaningful homework, planned as part of the flow of learning not to a timetable

• Focused on developing recall, reading and revision

For the first half term, homework will only be set in English, Maths & Science.

Students will also be asked to bring in ingredients when they have Food & Nutrition lessons.

We use ClassCharts to track:

• Positive Points

• Negative Points

• Attendance

• Homework

Parents’ Evening and Reports

Three reports throughout the academic year which contain information on:

• Preparation for Learning, Attitude for Learning and Homework

• Achievement & Behaviour points

• Attendance

In addition:

• Progress Judgements- will be included from the 2nd report

• End of year report- will also include test results
