Week 1 - Entering & leaving the room

Page 1

Before we start…

The following slides are the expectations that we have as an Academy for every pupil in the school.

BUT…

Just remember that everyone is different and some of you may struggle with some of these expectations. Your teachers will be aware of this – it may appear that some pupils are treated differently but teachers are ensuring that all pupils are recognised and celebrated. This is something you can discuss with your tutors.

Entering the classroom

• The teacher will greet you at the door as you come in. If the teacher isn’t there yet, you will need to line up outside the room.

• As soon as you enter the room, the learning has begun.

• Come in quietly, put your coat on the back of the chair, take out your pencil case, journal and any other appropriate equipment (reading book, calculator, homework book), bag under the chair and sit down without talking.

• Your teacher will have put a task on the board - you can start this.

• Monitors will hand out books as appropriate.

• The register will be taken – you will need to sit quietly.

• If you are late to a lesson, you need to come in quietly, sit down, and the teacher will come and talk to you when they are ready.

Entering the classroom

PE

• Line up on the yard in tutor groups.

• Enter with the 5 minute timer and change quietly – sit down once changed.

• The register will be taken during the 5 minute timer.

• When the register has been taken, line up again on the yard in register order.

Science

• Line up in silence, single file against the wall.

• Wait until the teacher allows you to enter the cloakroom.

• Enter the cloakroom, hang up your bag and coat, taking out your pencil case and journal.

• Enter the lab in silence. Go straight to your seat on the seating plan.

• Monitors will hand out books – start the ‘Do it now’ task.

• The register will then be taken in silence.

Entering the classroom

DT Food Tech

• When cooking, enter on time, collect ingredients and put in your place.

• Wash your hands, tie hair back as appropriate, put on an apron and wait at the front for a demo.

DT RM

• Leave bags and coats in the cloakroom and come into the room silently.

During the lesson

• Stay in your seat, unless asked to move by your teacher.

• Listen to any instructions as appropriate and don’t interrupt.

• Put your hand up if you have a question.

• Don’t distract other pupils.

Leaving the classroom

• Around 5 minutes before the end of the lesson, your teacher will tell you to pack up.

• If you have been chosen to collect in books, you will do this quickly and quietly.

• You will need to put your things in your bag, return anything you have borrowed, and then stand silently behind your chair.

• When the bell sounds, you will be dismissed by the teacher and you will walk slowly out of the classroom, (into the cloakroom for Science and DT) following the one way system towards your next lesson.
