ENTERPRISE WEEK! Trade was excellent last Friday as Year 6 sold the products they had made during Enterprise week. There was a huge range of products and services on offer, including coasters, crocheted items, toffee apples, a nail bar as well as a delicious selection of cakes, biscuits, pancakes and other sweet treats. 6N’s bird-boxes were a new idea this year and they (almost literally) flew off the shelves!

As well as making the products, year 6 did all the advertising, pricing and marketing for their enterprises and it was lovely to invite pupils from other year groups, staff and parents to share in the excitement and success of the event. Thank you for supporting our year 6 entrepreneurs.

All profits will go to charities or academy projects chosen by year 6 – such as Cancer Research UK and Blue Cross Ukraine Pet Welfare Fund. We are still calculating the final total… watch this space!

Year 8 pupils did themselves proud at Charterhouse this year with the instructors praising their determination to try out new activities, their manners and their support of each other. It was a privilege to be able to share challenges, social times and of course rather late nights with such an extraordinary group of young people.

I hope that they are able to take away some very positive memories that will last a lifetime.

Well done and thank you to everyone who was involved in organising a really memorable trip.

We are aware that many 12-15 year old children missed their second Covid vaccination due to self-isolation and the need to wait three months post virus. There is also growing concern that there may be another wave of covid coming towards the UK. We have therefore arranged clinics throughout Somerset to ensure that everyone who would like to improve their protection against the virus is able to receive their second, or equally a first dose of the vaccine at a location closer to home.

Year 6 have been carrying conduct cards over the last 3 weeks and have been collecting achievement points and merits for their beautiful behaviour around corridors. Well done Year 6!!

Over the next 2 weeks they will be focusing on taking pride in their uniform and the conduct cards will be orange.

Year 7 and 8 continue to celebrate their successes on the 5 main areas of focus.

Congratulations to Madelyn Nicholls in 8A, who with fellow cadets of the Somerset Army Cadet Battalion attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Horse Guards Parade London, attended by Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Oakfield Academy is extremely proud of her and wanted to share this amazing photograph.

Please be aware that the on-line shop for ordering uniform will not be operating during the Summer Holidays. The office will be open from 9am—3pm on Monday 25th July and Friday 2nd September to sell uniform when items can be purchased with cash or cheque.

However, we cannot always guarantee that all items will be available in all sizes, so we strongly recommend that you purchase well before the end of term.
