Edition No 8, 20/21 November 2020 We would like to inform you that we have been contacted by the Traffic Management and Road Safety Team, confirming that they will be doing spot checks in the area around Oakfield Academy.

Can we politely remind motorists what the Law is regarding the traffic restrictions that we have in place:HIGHWAY CODE

You MUST NOT wait or park on yellow lines during the times of operation shown on nearby time plates. – You MUST NOT wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers, on school entrance markings, when upright signs indicate a prohibition of stopping.

You should not park near a school entrance — as well as anywhere that would prevent access for emergency services, at or near a bus stop, opposite or within 10 metres of a junction.

7A pupils, Cali O’Brien and Oscar Stanton-Matthews both agreed the Chinese theme menu at the Oakfield Canteen was delicious! Chicken Curry, Veggie Chow Mein, Spring Roll and Chinese Cookies were a great hit. Next Thursday the canteen returns as an American Diner and the following Thursday will be Italian.

I want you to know how much we as a family appreciate you and the teaching and support staff continuing to do such a great job under so much pressure.

This second lockdown is hard on lots of people but it’s made so much easier for the kids to keep this continuity with their education.

I’ve had 4 children attend your school but this, for my youngest, is such a different experience.

I’m so worried for their future so thanks to you for making their present as normal as possible. It means a lot.

LAST DAY OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS

Friday 18th December 2020 is the last day of the Autum Term, on this day we will be closing at 2pm. School transport times will be altered to coincide.

Please can we remind you that scooters and skateboards are not permitted in school. Bicycles can be ridden (with a cycle helmet), pupils should also bring a bike padlock to secure the bike during the day.

Year 5 & 6 pupils should complete bikeability training, or be accompanied by an adult for their journey to and from school.

There were so many wonderful entries it was very difficult picking the winners.

It has been wonderful to see how well students have embraced their return to school and how much they are enjoying their learning. This term has seen an increase in homework being given and the majority of our students have risen to the challenge (especially with the online google classroom, eedi and doddle work). Home work is important to consolidate their learning in class and never more so than in this unprecedented year. Homework should be recorded in their journals for you to see what they have each week. If your child is having problems with their homework, then please do let us know so that we can advise. We really appreciate your support with home learning in order for your child to reach their full potential.
