Edition No 4, 20/21 October 2020 Free virtual choir sessions with the awesome Mark de Lisser Last year at this time in Oct some of our Oakfield Academy students were lucky enough to participate in a vocal workshop at Frome College with the incredibly gifted Mark De-Lisser (vocal coach/choral director/ gospel singer). Mark has worked with many professional singers and this time last year was busy coaching the celebrities taking part in ‘The Masked Singer’ on TV. He inspired all of us with his passion and energy and we left the workshop that day feeling inspired and uplifted. On the 8th, 9th and 10th Oct he will be running free virtual choirs which you can sign up for by following the link below on his Instagram page (markdelisser). He also explains on his Instagram page the reasons behind the choir and his support of mental health issues. https://instabio.cc/markdelisser When you click on this link you then need to click ‘World Mental Health Day 2020’ and follow the instructions. If you are unsure as to what type of singer you are (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) then I would recommend the following:Highest voices - soprano (soprano parts are also usually the main tune so easy to pick up), an example of a soprano voice would be Ariana Grande. High - Alto (usually harmony parts), an example of an alto singer would be Amy Winehouse or Dua Lipa. Lower – tenor, an example of a tenor singer would be Bruno Mars or Sam Smith. Lowest/deepest – bass, an example of a bass singer would be Rag’n’Bone Man. Don’t be shy and give it a go - maybe this could be something you could do with your whole family! Ms C Parsons, (Head of Performing Arts)
