John and I just wanted to email and say thank you for inviting Fair Frome to come and talk to your Year 8 students at their Celebration Evening.

It was a real pleasure to be there and to help celebrate the achievements of the students and to have the opportunity to talk about the support that Fair Frome gives the Frome community.

Please do pass on our thanks to all the other members of staff involved.

Warm Regards

TERRIFIC TWELFTH NIGHT

Shakespeare club’s performances of Twelfth Night last week brought a number of firsts for Oakfield Academy:

It was the first time Oakfield have been included as part of Frome Festival, the first time we have had three separate casts performing…and the first time (as far as we can remember) that the mayor of Frome has come to watch us!

Pupils from all year groups really rose to the challenge, with audiences describing their performances as “wonderful”, “fantastic” and “hugely impressive”. As well as the performances, pupils took on stage management, sound and prompting, not to mention creating “Twelfth Night Taskmaster” from scratch and producing a series of social media posts to advertise the show. The social media campaign was a great success, with over 3,000 ‘likes’ and leading to all nights being sold out.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!

The academy office will be open between 9am and 3pm to sell uniform on Monday 24th July and Monday 4th September. CASH ONLY. Uniform will not be available to buy on Tuesday 5th September due to staff training. Pupils return Wednesday 6th September 2023.

As part of the transition process to Frome College, selected Year 8 pupils were invited to meet Frome College teachers at the Earth Science Centre, Mells and later at a working quarry.

Congratulations to pupils from our “S” classes who had their House Rewards Assembly last Friday.

HEAD LICE BLAST

We have received reports of a number of cases of head lice around the school. Please check your child’s head regularly over the holidays so that we can all return in September without any unwanted visitors.

Thank you for your support.
