Describing positions. Looking at left and right, forwards and backwards and above and below.
This half term our English will focus around the book ‘No-Bot the Robot'. We will have a go at writing our own story in a fantasy setting and write a recount of No-Bot’s adventures. We will also use our recount skills to write a recount.
Place Value up to 100
Counting to 100 by making 10s, counting forwards and backwards within 100, introducing the 100 square, partitioning numbers, comparing and ordering numbers and one more, one less.
Year 1 Half Term 6/Summer 2:
Money
Recognising and counting in coins.
In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE, one on Monday, lead by Mrs Wilson and one on Friday with our PE coach. We will be continuing with our learning of fundamental skills.
Science:
Time Before and after, time to the hour, time to the half an hour, writing and comparing time.
In Science, we will be looking at how fruits and vegetables grow. Understanding where certain fruits and vegetables grow and why.
PE:
History: In history we will be looking at how transport has changed over time. We will look at different modes of transport and how each of them is useful. Understanding the effect transport has had on peoples lives.
Computing:
In computing, we will be using Purple Mash to learn how to create code and use a spreadsheet. We will also look at how technology is used outside of school.
Music:In Music, we will be learning ‘How does music teach us about looking after our planet?’ We will continue to learn to read simple musical notation and continue with our practical music.
RE: In RE will be looking at Christianity (Church) and answering the question, ‘How might some people show that they ‘belong’ to God?’ Year 1 Half Term 6/Summer 2:
Design and Technology
As designers, we will be exploring free standing structures. We will be designing, creating and evaluating robots out junk model materials.
