Maths: This half term, the children will be re-visiting several curriculum areas already taught in the build-up to SATs week. They will also be introduced to new learning, and we will be covering shape and position and direction during this half term.

English: This half term sees the introduction of our Shakespeare unit! The children will be introduced to William Shakespeare and learn all about his life before delving in to the wonderful world of MacBeth! They will be using this book to write their own narrative using older literature, a non-fiction hybrid text and a poem with imagery.

Science: This half term, the children will be exploring two science units. The first unit we will be looking at is around variation in different species. The children will explore how living things can be grouped by their specie and within each specie there are variations which make us unique! Their second unit of the half term will focus on adaptations and how living things have adapted to help them survive over time.

Year 6 - Summer 1/Half Term 5

Computing: This half term, the children will be completing a unit titled Text Adventures. During this unit, they will be using applications 2code and 2connect to create an interactive story.

RE: In RE this half term, the children will be focusing on Buddhism. During this unit they will explore the big question 'What do we mean by a good life?'. They will have the opportunity to learn about Buddha, the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.

PE: This half term, we will be moving on to a striking and fielding unit where the children will explore two main sports: cricket and rounders. We will be looking in detail at the three main disciplines in cricket and honing our skills in these!

Geography: This half term, the children will be beginning a geography unit called 'Protecting the Environment'. In this unit, the focus will be based around the big question 'Have humans ruined the planet?'. We will be looking closely at what climate change is, how recycling can change our landscape, the impacts of pollution and how climate change has affected the weather and even world migration! At the end of this unit, we will look at the impacts of tourism and deciding if tourism is always a good thing.

Music: This half term in music, the children will be continuing with their singing and will be busy creating their own musical introductions!

Spanish: This half term in Spanish, the children will be exploring the world of music! They will be looking at different musical instruments and learning the many different genres before giving their opinions on these. Year 6

PSHE: In PSHE this half term, the focus will be around enterprise. The children will be thinking about the uses and power of money and different ways in which they could begin to earn money.

DT: In DT this half term, we will be looking at healthy eating. The children will be using their prior knowledge around what makes a healthy meal to create their own three course meal.
