English: We will start by debatingthe environmental impactof the rubbish we throw awayand create persuasive letters to encourage others to be more environmentallyaware. We will also be using the story “The musicians of Bremen” to investigatehow folk tales are passed down and write our own tales with an environmental moral.

Science: During this half term we will continue to learn about food chains animal survival, predators and prey. We will focus on how and why environmentscan change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. We will also investigate how man made changes such as pollution and environmental changes can cause animal extinction.

We will also have our Multiplication tests.

History - We will learn about the Anglo Saxons and how and why they invaded Britain.We will investigatethe push and pull factors that lead to them leavingtheir homeland and use a range of evidence to try and interpret what type of people they were. We will also look at the Reign of Alfred the Great and why he was importantto Britain’s history.

Year 4 Summer 2/Half-term6:

Music:

We will be recapping our learning in music so far and using our knowledge to create our own “Carnival of the animals”music using a range of percussion instruments and glockenspiels.

Design Technology

For our DT unit we will be investigatinghow mechanisms can be used to create moving structures. We will be using our learning on endangered animalsto create moving puppet shows for our persuasive adverts about the environmental change.

Year 4 Summer 1/Half-term5: ‘Our Changing World’

Computing: This term we will learning how to represent and interpret data using spreadsheets.

What does “love our neighbour” really mean?

We will think about the importance of respect and tolerance in our community and how “loving our neighbour” relates to a persons stewardship over the environment.

PSHE: This we will be lookingat what a healthyfamily life is and why it is importantto care for, protect, and spend time with each other. We will then move onto our “Growing and changing unit” where we will explore healthyand unhealthyrelationships and how to keep ourselves safe.

PE: In P.E we will be looking at fielding and striking games and learning how to throw and catch across large distances.
