This half term we will learn about the functions of different parts of flowering plants: roots, stem/trunk, leaves and flowers and explore the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients from soil, and room to grow) and how they vary from plant to plant We will investigate the part that flowers play in the life cycle of flowering plants, including pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal.


Year 3 Summer Half-term 2: ‘The World Around Us’
Geography - Through this topic we will investigate our coastal geography. We will find out about what a coast is and the different types of coastline we have in the UK. We will look at the causes and effects of our changing coastlines and the effects humans have on our coastline habitats through tourism and coastal development . We will find out about the changes over time of our local coastline especially Blackpool.
Music: We will consider- How does music connect us to the environment?

We will continue to learn about crochets, quavers and semi quavers , the major key and time signature of four beats in a bar.
Design Technology
This half term we are going to consider and evaluate packaging, practice measuring and cutting accurately to create 3d nets and then design and make our own packaging with graphic design to safely hold our product (a cake!)

Why is family an important part of Hindu life?
We will learn about the Hindu faith and more especially the concept of ‘duty’ within the Hindu faith. We will investigate how worshipping in the home reminds families about their duty to lead a moral life and how families celebrate the festival Raksha Bandhan.
This half term we will consider our relationships with others. We will discuss friendships and actions. We will talk about ‘touch’ when it might be appropriate – ‘shaking hands’, ‘sharing resources’ and when its not appropriate – ‘kicking others’ ‘hair pulling’ etc and what to do if we are not happy or feel disrespected.
Computing: Simulation
PE: This half term we will be working outdoors on our athletic and field games skills.
We will explore the fact that computer simulations can represent real or imaginary situations. We will test simulations and make predictions and analyse choices made using a branching database. Finally we will create our own simulations.
