Maths: This half term we will start looking at mass and capacity, using grams, kilograms, litres and millilitres. We will then continue to build on our fractions learning from spring 2. Finally we will look at adding and subtracting amounts of money and learn how to and find correct change.
RE: The question that we will be considering this half term is “Why are Gurus important to Sikhs?”. We will explore Sikhism and look at how the ten Gurus shaped the religion.
English: The text that we will continue to analyse ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and create our own diaries based on what might happen next. We will then look at ‘The Stig of the Dump’ by Clive King and will use this text to explore character descriptions and create our own story linked back to our learning on the Stone Age.
Year 3 Half Term 5/Summer 1: The Romans
Science: This half term in science we will be exploring plants. We will investigate how plants grow, reproduce and learn about the stages of their life cycle from pollination to germination.
PE: Physical Education will be lead by our sport partners at West Lancashire Sports Partnership. P.E. will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We will focus on Athletics and striking and fielding games.
Computing: In computing this half term we will be looking at branching databases which use yes and no questions to generate answers. We will even be having a go testing each others and suggesting improvements in the coding.
History: In History we will continue to compare the ancient civilisations we have been learning about, and how their periods ended. We will then be looking at who the Romans were and the effect they had on the United Kingdom. We will look at how they built houses and roads. We will also learn about Boudicca and why she led a rebellion against the new Roman invaders.
Music: The theme in music this half term will be “bringing us together” we will look at how music can help bring everyone together as a community. The style of music that we will be focusing on is Disco.
Spanish: This half term the focus in Spanish will be food. The class will be supporting their learning of foods by reading and understanding the very hungry caterpillar story. Year 3 Half Term 5/Summer 1: The Romans
Art & Design: In Art this half term we will be looking at the artistic mediums of mosaic and collage. We will explore the work of Gary Drostle and Antoni Gaudi and consider how different materials can be used to create artwork that tells a story.
PSHE: This half term in PSHE we are looking at keeping and staying healthy around medicines. We will look at what safety measures are used for medicine bottles and why. We will consider what you should od if you feel unwell.
