Maths: In Maths this half term we will be looking at three topics. Starting with Mass and Capacity, moving onto fractions and then Money. Within Mass and capacity we will be looking at comparing different masses and volume, we will build on our learning from spring 2 with fractions, finally we will look at adding and subtracting with money and finding the right change.
English: Our book for this half term will be The Stig of the Dump. We will use this text the support our learning of grammar using determiners, and pre-fixes and writing diary entries.
Year 3 Half Term
5/Summer 1:
Science: Summer term in Science we
will be looking at every part of plants in detail and looking at what they require to grow healthily.
P.E: Physical Education will be lead by our sport partners at West Lancashire Sports Partnership. P.E. will be on Thursday and Fridays. They will be focusing on striking and fielding games and defence games.
RE: The questions that we will be exploring this half term is, Why are the Gurus important to the Sikhs? We will be looking at showing commitment to different things in our lives.
Computing: In computing this half term we will be looking at branching databases. Using yes and no questions to find the answer. We will have a go at creating a branching database and having a go at completing each others.
History: In History we will be comparing ancient civilisations looking at ancient Egypt, Sumer, Indus Valley and the Shang Dynasty from China. We will look at what all of the civilisations have in common.
Music: The theme in music this half term will be “bringing us together” we will look at how music can help bring everyone together as a community. The style of music that we will be focusing on is Disco.
Year 3 Half Term 5/Summer 1:
Art & Design: In Art this half term we will be looking at the skill of Mosaic and collage. We will look at the artists Gary Drostle and Antoni Gaudi. We will look at different materials that can be used to create the art work.
PSHE: For PSHE we will be looking at Hazards. On hazard watch we will be discussing what is safe to play with.
Spanish: This half term the focus in Spanish will be food. The class will be supporting their learning of foods by reading and understanding the very hungry caterpillar story.
