English: This half term in English, we will be reading ‘A Bear Called Paddington’ by Michael Bond. We will be exploring Paddington’s adventures in London and writing our own narratives stories based on a journey of adventure!
Maths: In the first half term, we will be focusing on Number. We will look at the Place Value of numbers with up to 3 digits, as well as formal and mental Addition and Subtraction. We will also begin to work on our times tables by recapping our 2's, 5's and 10’s!
Science:
In Science, our initial topic will be a ‘Biology’ based topic focussing on bodies of ‘Animals Including Humans.’ We will start by investigating the skeleton, then look at how our bodies move and why we need energy from our nutrition.
Year 3
Autumn 1: ‘A Bear in the City’
Design Technology:
In Design Technology, we will be focusing on healthy cooking and nutrition. We will be carefully planning the stages of a healthy fruit snack for break time in the form of fruit kebabs. We will learn how to prepare a variety of fruit, and practice our cutting and peeling techniques.
PE:
In PE this half term we will be focussing on our fundamental skills in P.E. We will look at how our bodies move, and focus on how exercise can keep us healthy.
Music:
We will be using the music program ‘Charanga’, listening to different beat and tempos of music. We shall also begin this year with a recorder level 1 program!
Geography:
Computing:
In computing this Autumn term, we will be focusing on coding. Using Purple mash, we will be creating simple algorithms to move various command objects using direction commands such as ‘repeat.’
Spanish: This will be the children's first introduction to their Spanish units. The children will be learning various greetings, working on their vowel sounds and numbers to 20.
Over the Autumn term, we will be learning about the stone age, through to the Iron Age. So, to being this Half term, we will look at the Physical and Human features of the U.K and explore what the landscapes around Stone age, bronze age and Iron age settlement sites were like. This will also help us explore why Humans have settled where they have.
RE:
In R.E this half term, the module focuses on Christianity (God). Each module has a focus question. The focus question for this half term is, ‘how (and why) have some people served God?
PSHE:
During the first half term we will be working on the specific modules; ‘Being responsible’ and ‘Feeling and Emotions.’
