English:
In English, we are using a range of books that allow us to explore stories in familiar places. We will start by using The Wind in the Willows. We will use the texts to develop our writing skills. We will focus on spelling, grammar and punctuation this half term.
Science:
Our science units this term are both a biology focus. We will continue looking at plants (bulbs and seeds) and observe how they grow. We will then move onto lookingat a range of life cycles. We will look at the different stages of a life cycle and how living things grow. This will link back to our previous unit about the 5 animal categories.
Maths:
In Maths this half term, we will be learning about fractions. We will learn how to split shapes and numbers into halves, quarters and thirds. Along side this we will continue to work on our arithmetic questions and our times tables using TT Rock stars!
Year 2 Half-term 6: ‘into the woods’
Art & Design:
Our DT this half term links to our geography.
We will be looking at how to create free standing structure. We will research into some castles within the UK and use them as inspiration to help us create our own!
PE:
In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE lead by our PE Coach and Miss Gwynne. We are focussing on the 7 fundamental skills.
We will be applyingthese skills into game scenarios.
Music:
In music this half term we are learning two songs about ‘friendship’. We will learn to sing the songs, improvise with an instrument alongside the song and then perform them in front of an audience!
Geography: In geography this half term we will be lookingat different kinds of maps . We will explore the countries and capital cities in the United Kingdom. We will also look at the flags to go with these countries.
Computing:
This half terms unit of work is called Unit 2.6 Creating Pictures. We will use the program 2Paint a Picture on Purple Mash

In PSHE we will complete 2 units.

We will also recap internet safety and how to protect ourselves online.
