English:
This half term our English will focus around the book ‘No-Bot the Robot'. We will have a go at writing our own story in a fantasy setting and write a recount of No-Bot’s adventures.We will also use our recount skills to write a recount.
Year 1 Half Term 6/Summer 2:
Science:
Time Before and after, time to the hour, time to the half an hour, writing and comparing time.
In Science, we will begin to look at Everyday Materials.We will learn to distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made. We will also learn to identify and name a variety of materials,describe their properties and compare and group them. As the weather gets nicer, we will also continueour learning about Seasons as we begin to move into Summer.
PE: In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE, one on Monday, lead by Mrs Wilson and one on Friday with our PE coach. We will be continuingwith our learning of fundamental skills.
RE: In RE will be lookingat Christianity(Church) and answering the question, ‘How might some people show that they ‘belong’ to God?’
History: Throughout this term we will be looking at our local history, focusing on British Animator Nick Park, the creator of Wallace and Gromit. We will look at Nick Parks life to date and how his work has impacted on people’s lives. We will look at Nick Park’s animationsand have a go at creating our own Wallace and Gromit style characters.
Music:In Music, we will be learning
‘How does music teach us about looking after our planet?’ We will continueto learn to read simple musical notation and continue with our practical music.
Computing:
In computing, we will be using Purple Mash to learn how to create code and use a spreadsheet. We will also look at how technology is used outside of school.
PSHE
We will be learning about growing in our world and the human cycle. We will also be looking at how our families are all unique and special.
Design and Technology
As designers, we will be exploring free standingstructures. We will be designing, creating and evaluatingrobots out junk model materials.
