Maths:

Place Value (within 50)

Counting to 50 by making 10s, numbers to 50, counting forwards and backwards within 50, tens and ones, represent numbers to 50, one more and one less, compare objects and numbers within 50, count in 2s, count in 5s

Multiplication and Division

Count in 2s, Count in 5s, Count in 10s, Make equal groups, Add equal groups, Make arrays, make doubles, grouping, sharing.

English:

This half term our English will focus on sorties with a familiar setting. We will be reading ‘Goat, Donkey and the Great Outdoors’. We will be exploring the text and then writing our own stories. We will also be producing an information booklet about camping in the great outdoors.

Year 1 Half Term 5/Summer 1:

Science:

RE:

In RE will be looking at Hinduism and be answering the question, ‘What do Hindus believe about God?’

In Science, we will begin to look at Everyday Materials. We will learn to distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made. We will also learn to identify and name a variety of materials, describe their properties and compare and group them. As the weather gets nicer, we will also continue our learning about Seasons as we begin to move into Summer.

PE: In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE, one on Tuesday, lead by Mrs Wilson and one on Friday with our PE coach. We will be continuing with our learning of fundamental skills.

‘The Great Outdoors’

Geography:

We will have a further look into the UK, looking at the relationship between the UK and the wider world. We will learn the simple directions of a compass and use photographs and landmarks to create a simple map of our local area and school.

Music:

In Music, we will be learning ‘What Songs can we sing to help us through the day?’

Computing:

In computing, we will be using Purple Mash to learn how to create code.

We will learn to read simple musical notation and continue with our practical music.

Art & Design

As artists, we will be inspired by painter Claude Monet. We will be looking at the outdoors and painting real life scenes of nature.

PSHE

We will be learning about hazards around us in school and at home and begin to identify what is safe and what is not safe.
