Looking at heavier or lighter and measuring and comparing mass. Full and empty and comparing mass and volume.
Multiplication and Division
Count in 2s, Count in 5s, Count in 10s, Make equal groups, Add equal groups, Make arrays, make doubles, grouping, sharing.
English:
This half term we will be focusing on stories with a familiarsetting. We will be enjoyingWinnie the pooh – House at Pooh’s corner. We will be focusing on the structures of our sentences whilst writing our own version of the story.
Year 1 - Summer 1: ‘ The Great Outdoors
Science: In Science we will be looking at Plants. We will start by looking at the parts of a plant, we will them look at what plants we have around our homes and school. We will finish the topic looking at different types of trees and understandingwhat trees grow in our area.
PE:
In PE this half term we have 1 session of PE lead by our PE coach on a Monday.We are continuing learning and perfecting the 7 fundamental skills. This half term we also have Forest School lead by Mrs Cole.
RE:In RE will be looking at Hinduism and be answering the question, ‘What do Hindus believe about God?’
Geography:
In Geography we will be lookingat our Local Area. We will use our mapping skills to look at where Leyland is in the UK. We will look at what the features of our town are and look at map symbols to show what they are.
Computing:
In computing, we will become more confident with using a computer and typing with a key board. We will then look at coding using purple mash.
PSHE
Music:
In Music, we will be learning
‘What Songs can we sing to help us through the day?’
We will learn to read simple musical notation and continue with our practical music.
Year 1
Summer 1: The Great Outdoors
In PSHE this half term we will start by seeing what we know about Being Responsibleand will then look at Water Spillage. We will then look at what we know about Keeping/ Staying Healthy and then look at brushing teeth.
Art: As artists, we will be inspired by painter Claude Monet. We will be looking at the outdoors and painting real life scenes of nature.
